UPDATE: 230607 Been meaning to do this update for a while. Aldi prides itself on being a low price leader - according to their advertising.
Recently they have 'improved' their shelf pricing changing the colors and type sizes making comparison shopping a bit more difficult and perverting their UNIT PRICING by listing the unit price per unusual units! So, if milk is $ 0.0303125 per ounce, how is that helpful? Who buys milk by the ounce? Come on Aldi, give it to us straight - how much is your milk per gallon?
And Bacon, we buy a pound of bacon (as with most meats and fishes) so why the super fine print announcing you sell us bacon for $ 0.249375 per ounce?
And, why confound us with teh tiny print? Especially frustrating when you mount your tiny labels beneath the products on teh bottom shelf - you know no old man can read those labels!
And when I can and do read them, it is clear that ALDI has not held the price line and no longer can honestly claim to beat the local competition on price
Also - beware the 50% off deals for short dated foodstuffs. I bought some lamb a couple weeks ago that had been reduced from over $22/lb - only to discover a couple days later that everyone else had the same lamb listed at half that price - snookered! Last two visits, lines were forming. I asked them to open another register and they were Johnny on the spot. They have hand sanitizer and cart wipes and employees wear the face masks. Their Raisin Bread's a buy!* Generally their prices are very competitive and the quality is right up there - along with a great refund program if you ever get something that failed to meet your expectations.
*I mix one can of their Apple Pie Filling (not always in stock) with five or six GS Apples, a handful of raisins and, using their refrigerated pie crusts (not the frozen ones), make an excellent...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter standing in line until it backed up, I had to walk the store to find someone to ring me and all the other customers up. Found someone and she called someone else and we stood and waited till the woman come from the back. Also, the prices were great and now itās more than Walmart or food lion. I threw away meat that was Old. It was definitely spoiled, but said it was in date. $16 For a steak and then throw it away! When I tried to eat my Broccoli it had an off smell. Donāt really know what was wrong with it, but Iāve ate that broccoli a million times and it wasnāt right. Been sick To my stomach all day. Everything I cooked for supper last night came from Aldi. I have gave two stars only because the hummus and pita chips was good. This was a good store at one point. Iāve shopped here for years. It has definitely changed and For the Worst. It is OK for dry goods and canned foods but if you want anything out of a cooler or freezer, Donāt waste your time. Youāre gonna be...
Ā Ā Ā Read morewe go here for cheaper groceries on some things. most of their own brands are ok but some just aint up to par with other brands. customer service here IS quiet lacking.. most lines get 8 to 10 customer long before they open another lane.. they park the floor lifts in the middle of the aisle making it impossible to do anything but go to another aisle to get to the other end of the aisle you were just on. questions are usually met with a "deer in the headlight" look, most of the workers are unfriendly to a vice. you can tell these aldi workers don't enjoy their jobs, smiles are non-existent here, the only thing you get here is a rushed atmosphere... as in even before your checked out, the cashier wants your credit card in the box to speed things up.. we always liked waiting till everything is checked out then insert the...
