So, I am currently on a quest for the best hot dog. I tried out this place and I definitely didn't leave hungry. Nice a clean place. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter. I ordered the Classic, a Chili Dog and a chocolate shake. My order didn't take long, (nice presentation) and before you know it, I was into my first bite of the classic. It was tasty as a classic can be with mustard and onions. My biggest complaint is the buns they use. It's too much bread for the dog, IMO. Too much bread takes away from getting that perfect bite; especially when it came to the chili dog. The chili dog could have used more chili, but it was tasty. The side of fries that comes with the meal are average, small and lightly salted. The best part of the meal was, without a doubt, the chocolate shake. Very delicious! I ordered the small, should have ordered the large. Chocolatey, smooth, flavorful. I'll be back for another shake! I give 3 stars because this was a good, average hot dog. Nothing noticeably different about the flavor of the dog itself. Could be store-bought(not that it's a bad thing), and the bun was too big. The customer service and shakes gets 5 stars, but I'm just reviewing the hot dogs. All in all, it's a good place to go and try the wide variety of dogs and shakes. I definitely recommend to try it for yourself if you are in the...
Read moreWhen I rate establishments, it isn't about any singular thing that warrants stars. It's about a blended experience. Shake N Dogs has checker board place mats at each table. I love checkers, but even if I didn't, it gives you something to do while you wait for your food if you are with someone else. The service is friendly, respectful, and efficient. The food is brought out to your table. Presentation is clearly given more than a second thought. The shakes are visually appealing as well as tasty. The hot dogs are good with buns that are fluffy and toasted. The buns are branded with the name of the establishment; one of those details they paid extra attention to. The fries came in these little baskets that look like mini friolator baskets you would drop the fries in. That's original. The place was clean and welcoming. I could tell from just the one visit that this is a place people choose for a quick lunch stop if they work in the area. I would definitely go back. I just don't live or work in the area. If I'm passing through again, I plan on going back with the kids. Check them out if you're in Fitchburg and like shakes or hot dogs. They also have other food items on the menu, a little something for everyone....
Read moreThis place was such a great find. My family is up this way at Great Wolf, and we decided to eat some place that was not on the grounds of the water park. My wife, and I, really like places that do things with hot dogs. and Shake N Dog did things really well! Of the 4 different dog options we got all were fantastic. My kids even enjoyed the plain hot dog, and cheese quesadilla they ordered. We did also get hakes while we where there. The Strawberry Grace my wife and I had were really fantastic, and we had the kids split the Alice in Wonderland. Which they did without fighting because they were so into it. The kids shake even came adorned with a lollipop, and one of the folks working there (seemed like someone who manages/owns the location) brought a second to help keep them from fighting over the one that was available. Overall the food was great, service was top notch, and the atmosphere inside was great as well. I would highly suggest coming to eat here if you are local to the Leominster area, or up that way visiting for any reason...
