My husband and I used to recommend this restaurant to everyone we know, but things have been on a downward spiral over our last few visits. Today, after being seated, we waited for over 15 mins before the hostess noticed we had not been approached at all by any of the 6 waiters that were all standing around, literally leaning against walls and congregating together by the front. She came and took our drink order and left. We waited another 10 mins before again the hostess saw we were just sitting with our menu's closed. She finally went and got a waitress from the other side of the restaurant, who was actually tending to a table at that moment, to take our orders. From then on we never saw the same person at our table, rather a carousel of employees who seemed to draw the short straw to check our table. One brought our food, yet another asked if our food was accurate, a 4th noticed my husband's empty water glass, no one asked if we needed anything, and we had to ask 3 separate staff members for our check before finally receiving it. We are not a fussy family, we don't generally complain or ask for a lot of extra attention. We come in, we order our food, occasionally my husband asks for hot sauce, we ask for our check and we head out relatively quickly, usually leaving behind a heafty tip as I used to be a server and sympathize with the nature of the job. But today was the last straw. We won't be back, and we won't be recommending this restaurant in the future. Absolute disappointment!! If you want to feel like your very existence in the restuarant is an annoyance to the entire staff, then this is the place...
Read moreI ate or should I say I went to Salsa's yesterday for lunch. I took my brother in law out for lunch to a place we have been going to since I moved here 3 1/2 years ago. To start we ordered drinks, I ordered a large diet coke and ordered a large margarita on the rocks no salt for my brother in law. We also placed our order, my brother in law ordered to the lunchtime Texas fajitas and I ordered cheese enchiladas. When our food was delivered there was three enchiladas on a plate cold and covered in some type of red sauce, no beans and rice or salad with guacamole and my brother in laws came out no sizzling plate as it has been served in the past didn't look as though it had been grilled and the meat beef, chicken and shrimp were served with Bell peppers, onions and slices of cooked tomatoes which we have never been served with in the past. He also said that the taste seemed to be different. He did get refried beans and salad with guacamole on his plate but no rice as it has been served in the past. Needless to say I told the manager that we were not satisfied with the food, his exact words to me were " we have the same cooks and your food is exactly the same as it has been for the last 25 years. He then said he would not charge me for the cheese enchiladas but would have to charge me for the fajitas and our drinks. I then told him I was very disappointed and that we have eaten there for years and the food has never been served to us the way it was today and we would never be eating there again. The one thing I regret is that I didn't take pictures of the food before complaining and them...
Read moreI have been to a few Mexican restaurants in Southern Maryland, and this is definitely one of the best in the area.
The salsa comes in a small bottle so that you can pour how much you'd like into a small bowl. The salsa is quite tasty, better than most places. The lunch menu has a lot of options with portions that are more than what you pay for. The dinner menu is pretty big as well. The tacos are huge and filling and can get either beef or chicken, lettuce, and shredded white (mozzarella?) cheese. The large chile relleno is a little flat, but is stuffed with cheese. The burritos have many options that fill the plate. The refried beans come with white mozzarella cheese on top, and the rice is typical Mexican rice.
The food comes out in a pretty quick time and nice and hot. The service is excellent here, they make sure drinks are filled and that you have everything you need. The hot sauce they have here is Tapatio.
The two times I've gone they weren't serving alcohol, not sure why (maybe lost license?), so that was a little disappointing, but will not keep me from coming back. Not sure why I haven't tried them out before! They need to hurry and start serving...
