Rudy's Drive-In — Restaurant in Leoni Township

I can't remember when it stopped being A&W, had to be around 20 years ago. Anyway when it first became "Rudy's" I thought it was good, The food and the root beer. But over the past decade the quality went downhill. Burgers and onion rings weren't as good. The chocolate shake I always got wasn't the same, but the worst was the root beer. We always bought a half gallon, and it was always flat. It's not like we waited days to drink it, maybe 20 minutes after we bought it and got home. I thought maybe it was just me aging and my taste becoming more refined, but others I spoke with about Rudy's agreed with me. I also think it's really strange that a modern business is cash only. At least Hinkleys has history, and is just donuts. But in 2025 there is no excuse to be cash only. Some reviews complained about their prices, but they seem to be aversge for modern fast food. This place has been part of the Michigan Center community For a very long Time.. (Formerly A&W) When it became Rudy's.. The continued the tradition of good food and good service. (Awesome Root beer) There own flavor combination. Still served in glass mugs... When food service establishments are changing their food, lowering their service standards.. RUDY'S HAS STAYED CONSISTENT WITH THEIR FOOD QUALITY AND THE GOOD SERVICE THAT THOSE OF US THAT HAVE BEEN GOING THERE SINCE WE WERE CHILDREN HAVE COME TO EXPECT AS ADULTS!!! It is worth the drive if you're just coming through town as a tourist or if you live in the Jackson area... My personal favorite is a footlong chili cheese... And I always have to have 2 mugs root beer...

Ordered my meal on DoorDash for the first time for pickup to make it more convenient for myself & the staff. When I pulled in there wasn’t any parking spots. I was asked to park by the rocks, and when I said I had a DoorDash I was met with such attitude from the woman with two buns on her head. She rolled her eyes and told me I had to go inside to get my order. She proceeded to repeat it twice as if I was incompetent. I told her she didn’t have to be rude about it. My family love this place but after this I’ll choose elsewhere. I don’t appreciate being treated like this after paying for my food.
