Grant's Bakery — Restaurant in Lewiston

Looking for a quick breakfast saw mixed reviews but decided to give them a shot and boy was I glad I did! From the outside place looks pretty basic hole in the wall type joint. Go inside and there's a delightful array of goodies,after much debate I went with 2 Danish one blueberry/cheese and one apple , a lemon cookie, and the brownie creams 2 plain 2 peanut butter. The cookie didn't make it out of the parking lot. Frist bite I was like it's OK second bite gave a burst of lemony goodness soft and a little chewy with a light but good cover of confection sugar. Now for the top pick the blueberry/cheese Danish this was the best Danish I think I've had since I was a teenager in swisszerland. The dough was light and buttery with just the right amount of flakyness it's filling was sweet with just a little tart from the blueberry creating a perfect harmony, diffinatly made recently. Highly recommend! Apple one also very good a little on the sweet side, hopeing to go back and try the other flavors soon! Now the brownie creams still tasty basic brownie base the cream on top is what give it a real punch, would love to see the brownie kicked up a notch maybe add some of those roasted peanuts they have to the brownie mix for added flavor and a crunch. My wife and I planned an informal wedding reception which was intended to be a social gathering for our two families several months after we got married. We went with a non-traditional theme which included cupcakes a wedding topper cake for the dessert. We chose Grant's Bakery to do the topper cake and worked with Gary, one of their cake makers.

Gary walked us through their process, portfolio and what options were available to us. He understood our theme and produced a white and gold themed topper cake which was spot on. My wife LOVED it and it.

Unfortunately my wife and I were not able to have the cake for our wedding reception as we had to cancel due to a major incident impacting several of our Maine towns, but Gary was patient and willing to still make the cake despite their store being shut down for 2-3 days due to the incident.

We pushed the due date for the cake to be ready, out a few days and when my wife picked it up, she LOVED it and complimented him several times on how he hit the theme with colors and the simplistic design. We were not looking for a large elaborate cake and despite the simple design, it exceeded our expectations.

Love their pies and cakes. I get all of my kids birthday cakes here in the flavor combos they like so that is at least 5 cakes a year. Holidays alway grab a chocolate cream pie which is amazing and a cheesecake. Oh my lord the cheesecake is really really good. Pumpkin cheese cake is amazing too. When I was pregnant with my youngest son I had special cupcakes ordered filled with blue frosting for my older children to bite into to find out they were having a baby brother. They knew exactly what I needed and they delivered amazing chocolate cupcakes that were fun to tear apart and even better to eat. They have all kinds of different licensed themed cake characters and designs. My son had a patriots cake and a Sofia the first cake for my daughter. They make an incredible chocolate lava cake that is quite cool to look at and even better to eat. Definitely recommend this place for all sorts of baking needs. Breads, cakes, pies, cupcakes...
