El Rancho Viejo Méxican Restaurant — Restaurant in Lexington

This place is just OK. Not good, not bad. It used to be really really good and we went all the time. We went yesterday and it had been 3.5 years since we had been there. The waitress was super nice. She did a great job. The chips they brought out were stale. Like, left in an open bag for over a day stale. The food was pretty good except for the chicken. The enchiladas, rice, beans and burritos were good. Regular Mexican American food. The chicken I mentioned...it was stringy and rubbery and not very pleasant. It had some decent flavor though. I dont know if I got the top where it had dried out, or an old batch, because my wife got a chicken chimi and her chicken was fine. I used to get the dorado all the time, then they started skimping on the shrimp. Honestly, itll probably be another 3 to 4 years...

So I decided to give them another try after being disappointed for the past two times in a row. I ordered 3 tacos of asada with green sauce only and side of Pico de Gallo the total came out to $13 and some change I didn't realize I had forgotten my 5 dollar bill at the hotel so since I walked there I asked for both sides to be removed and just have the 3 tacos of asada. I told her I only had $10 and the 3 tacos should have only been $7 maybe 8 with tax which she claimed she couldn't remove they were trying to charge me $10.46 for 3 tacos of asada! To think I came there to give them another chance just to be disappointed with service this time around what a joke. I told them just forget about it and left them with there overpriced tacos never coming back there again...

We go here about twice a month and we love the food and the atmosphere. Our problems are with the service. Over the past few visits we have either not ever gotten refills our kids food wasn't put in and it gets old. The latest problem was on Thursday the 25th about 3 o'clock we walk in and the server sets down the menus on a table and says you can sit here no problems for us until the table was dirty but things happen honest mistakes then we order my food wasn't brought out correctly then when I said something about it the waitress gave me a horrible attitude then sat at the table by the cash register on her phone instead of checking on us and giving us a refill. I hope the managers will correct this we love going there and hope that a little but more training...
