my mama and me live a couple hours away, and come to lexington for drs appointments. we love to make a trip to Pure Eats whenever we’re in town, and it has never failed me. when i first discovered it many years ago i had no experience in a kitchen so my opinion on ā€œgood foodā€ wasn’t the best. now having worked in true fine dining, and understating the important structures of a good burger, i can safely argue that this is THE best burger i’ve ever had. it’s incredibly flavorful, juicy and perfectly cooked, the tallow fries are out of this world and you can taste the quality and love in every bite. their coffee is also outstanding, and it is for sure one of my top restaurants. yes, it’s pricey, but not because this company is money hungry. we are living in a financial ruin in the culinary industry, and if i have to pay a couple bucks more to keep a place like this alive, i’ll do it. thank you to the owner and employees who keep such an amazing restaurant going and providing food i can actually feel great about eating. and the adorable and very friendly birds just make it even better. 🩷

We went somewhere else first and they didn’t show us great customer service so we ended up sitting in the car looking for another diner place. This popped up and we were excited to head over there. Loved the outside. The young men inside gave us WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. We were tired from a hot day at the Safari but he answered all of our questions. They even had a vegetarian burger for my vegetarian friend!!! They had a bun less burger for my Keto friend. I wanted a burger and they had some local beef that was amazing. Best part was that there are known for their world famous donuts-which are my fav- I showed him my donut phone case!!! We ordered so much, EVERYTHING was so yummy!!! We plan to stop by before we head on the road home-those yummy donuts would come in handy for a 4 hour drive. šŸ©šŸ©šŸ©šŸ©šŸ©

We (party of 3) went for brunch and ordered two 1/4 pound burgers, one with a side beef tallow fries and the other with sweet potato fries. I the order we also had a breakfast plate with two scrambled eggs, two toasts, slice of avocado and two pieces of bacon. The burgers came out as ordered and fries were good, everything tasted fresh. The platter was good too, eggs and bacon fantastic. The menus did not have prices, they all had the prices covered with sharpie, and after a charge of $60.10 for 3, it was little bit disappointing. Not sure why the prices are so high given that there are no servers. The staff was friendly though and very quick in getting the food out.

We recently moved to the area and I can’t count how many times we’ve already eaten here with our little ones. We fell in love with the ambiance, kid-friendliness (outdoor seating with our toddlers and space to move around šŸ‘šŸ») which isn’t always easy to find for a young couple with kiddos, and of course - the donuts! Sadly, in the last few months we notice the quality and customer service has really started to drop. We are not the type of people to complain when it comes to food service, but when paying up to $90 for breakfast and/or burgers, fries and donuts for our family of 4, I feel customers have a right to decent food and service overall. One morning visit, we sat outside and one of the young girls brought our meals out and accidentally dropped a container of red marinara sauce on me (I was 7 months pregnant at the time and of course, the one time I wore a white top) and it got on my shoulder and all the way down to my sandals…we didn’t get an apology, not even napkins to clean it up…my husband grabbed water and wipes to help me out. I didn’t complain or say a word, just said ā€œit happens it’s okayā€, brushed it off (I waitressed as a teen and know stuff happens, but really?! I would offer someone a free soda, maybe a single donut being that we go so often)…well, okay, fast forward to next stop in, we try again, the food quality wasn’t the best and received a bit of attitude per my hubby from the young staff upon ordering…basically couldn’t ask what type of burgers were available. On another weekend visit with our kids right before I was due (9 months pregnant) I ordered an orange juice and took a sip only to find it was alcoholic- I was mistakenly given another guest’s mimosa….I mean again, mistakes happen but that’s kind of a big one right? Alright now at that point, our patience had worn. We just went back this weekend (because there aren’t THAT many places to go in town with a newborn and 2 toddlers where we have space to not interrupt others during their breakfast or lunch outside) and the donuts we bought were very stale (they have been the last few times) but our kids ALWAYS beg for a box to take home…it’s a shame because we truly loved this little gem, which was a small part of what made us pick Lexington as our home - quaint little spots like this with family-style options and character. But really, it might be worth the owners considering adding some more mature staff and maybe reconsidering food and customer service/quality again. I see another guest’s comment about moving a table - yeah we once were there and overheard who may have been the owner say that tables couldn’t be moved…I mean, people are going and spending their money, which these days is extra tough to do as a family of 4, 5, etc. Give guests a little love! As long as they place things back and are not disrupting others or the space, why not? There aren’t any very large tables for more than maybe 4-5 guests so a group might need to move a table to sit together…. Pure Eats, you have a good thing going overall but even good things have room for review and improvement sometimes. We hope to be able to keep visiting and eating here with our family but also hope that someone takes a look at the customer experience so it’s a good one for everyone again! Willing to keep giving it a chance and fingers crossed for some ...

Pure Eats was suggested by the front desk of our hotel as a good place for a satisfying breakfast. Unfortunately, we did not have an enjoyable experience. My wife and I both ordered the Rockbridge Roll-Up since we have developed a fondness for breakfast burritos from our time living in the Southwest before moving to Virginia. The first thing we noticed was how cold the burrito tortilla was. It felt as if the tortillas had been taken out of the refrigerator and not heated before wrapping the contents. They were that cold. The contents included eggs, hashbrowns, perhaps some cheese, and a picante sauce that tasted as if it came directly from a jar. This was very unsatisfying for a $9+ burrito.

Here are my suggestions: WARM THE TORTILLAS! Nothing is worse than biting into a cold breakfast burrito on a winter’s day. Add flavor to the contents with red chile spices, black pepper, and salt. Skip the bland picante sauce from a jar and make your own signature pico de gallo (tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, lime juice, salt). You will have people coming back for more. Increase the contents a bit; the burritos were quite slim. Visit New Mexico and experience an excellent breakfast burrito! Learn from the masters!

Perhaps we visited when the regular chef was not available. However, there were only two or three other people in the restaurant when we arrived, so being crowded and overwhelmed with orders was not an excuse. We had high expectations based upon the suggestion from the hotel and the positive reviews online. Unfortunately, our experience was...

I’m local and live in pretty close walking distance to pure eats. I go often and usually don’t have any problems. But today was the worst service I’ve ever had from this place, it was almost as if done on purpose. Went in today (12/5 at around 2pm) and order 2 grilled chicken sandwiches; one with pickles and lettuce, the other with only pickles and onion. Also ordered a donut. Cashier made a phone call when going to the back (mentioned she was a florist if that helps determine who this was) and then gossiped with the cook. Cashier brings out my food with a smile on her face and said ā€œhere’s your hot and ready food made especially just for you!ā€ Smiled said thank you. Got home from my not even 3 minute walk down the street and my sandwiches were cold. One sandwich didn’t even have the lettuce on it that I asked for and instead was tomato. Also was a random tomato on mine with the onion and pickle. Also did not receive my donut that I ordered. Am very disappointed and not sure if I will be coming back. Mistakes happen but when they happen very often and are lied to the customers face about it is truly unacceptable. I don’t blame the business or the owner at all but these workers need to be help accountable. And I would like...
