We recently moved to the area and I canāt count how many times weāve already eaten here with our little ones. We fell in love with the ambiance, kid-friendliness (outdoor seating with our toddlers and space to move around šš») which isnāt always easy to find for a young couple with kiddos, and of course - the donuts! Sadly, in the last few months we notice the quality and customer service has really started to drop. We are not the type of people to complain when it comes to food service, but when paying up to $90 for breakfast and/or burgers, fries and donuts for our family of 4, I feel customers have a right to decent food and service overall. One morning visit, we sat outside and one of the young girls brought our meals out and accidentally dropped a container of red marinara sauce on me (I was 7 months pregnant at the time and of course, the one time I wore a white top) and it got on my shoulder and all the way down to my sandalsā¦we didnāt get an apology, not even napkins to clean it upā¦my husband grabbed water and wipes to help me out. I didnāt complain or say a word, just said āit happens itās okayā, brushed it off (I waitressed as a teen and know stuff happens, but really?! I would offer someone a free soda, maybe a single donut being that we go so often)ā¦well, okay, fast forward to next stop in, we try again, the food quality wasnāt the best and received a bit of attitude per my hubby from the young staff upon orderingā¦basically couldnāt ask what type of burgers were available. On another weekend visit with our kids right before I was due (9 months pregnant) I ordered an orange juice and took a sip only to find it was alcoholic- I was mistakenly given another guestās mimosaā¦.I mean again, mistakes happen but thatās kind of a big one right? Alright now at that point, our patience had worn. We just went back this weekend (because there arenāt THAT many places to go in town with a newborn and 2 toddlers where we have space to not interrupt others during their breakfast or lunch outside) and the donuts we bought were very stale (they have been the last few times) but our kids ALWAYS beg for a box to take homeā¦itās a shame because we truly loved this little gem, which was a small part of what made us pick Lexington as our home - quaint little spots like this with family-style options and character. But really, it might be worth the owners considering adding some more mature staff and maybe reconsidering food and customer service/quality again. I see another guestās comment about moving a table - yeah we once were there and overheard who may have been the owner say that tables couldnāt be movedā¦I mean, people are going and spending their money, which these days is extra tough to do as a family of 4, 5, etc. Give guests a little love! As long as they place things back and are not disrupting others or the space, why not? There arenāt any very large tables for more than maybe 4-5 guests so a group might need to move a table to sit togetherā¦. Pure Eats, you have a good thing going overall but even good things have room for review and improvement sometimes. We hope to be able to keep visiting and eating here with our family but also hope that someone takes a look at the customer experience so itās a good one for everyone again! Willing to keep giving it a chance and fingers crossed for some ...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePure Eats was suggested by the front desk of our hotel as a good place for a satisfying breakfast. Unfortunately, we did not have an enjoyable experience. My wife and I both ordered the Rockbridge Roll-Up since we have developed a fondness for breakfast burritos from our time living in the Southwest before moving to Virginia. The first thing we noticed was how cold the burrito tortilla was. It felt as if the tortillas had been taken out of the refrigerator and not heated before wrapping the contents. They were that cold. The contents included eggs, hashbrowns, perhaps some cheese, and a picante sauce that tasted as if it came directly from a jar. This was very unsatisfying for a $9+ burrito.
Here are my suggestions: WARM THE TORTILLAS! Nothing is worse than biting into a cold breakfast burrito on a winterās day. Add flavor to the contents with red chile spices, black pepper, and salt. Skip the bland picante sauce from a jar and make your own signature pico de gallo (tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, lime juice, salt). You will have people coming back for more. Increase the contents a bit; the burritos were quite slim. Visit New Mexico and experience an excellent breakfast burrito! Learn from the masters!
Perhaps we visited when the regular chef was not available. However, there were only two or three other people in the restaurant when we arrived, so being crowded and overwhelmed with orders was not an excuse. We had high expectations based upon the suggestion from the hotel and the positive reviews online. Unfortunately, our experience was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām local and live in pretty close walking distance to pure eats. I go often and usually donāt have any problems. But today was the worst service Iāve ever had from this place, it was almost as if done on purpose. Went in today (12/5 at around 2pm) and order 2 grilled chicken sandwiches; one with pickles and lettuce, the other with only pickles and onion. Also ordered a donut. Cashier made a phone call when going to the back (mentioned she was a florist if that helps determine who this was) and then gossiped with the cook. Cashier brings out my food with a smile on her face and said āhereās your hot and ready food made especially just for you!ā Smiled said thank you. Got home from my not even 3 minute walk down the street and my sandwiches were cold. One sandwich didnāt even have the lettuce on it that I asked for and instead was tomato. Also was a random tomato on mine with the onion and pickle. Also did not receive my donut that I ordered. Am very disappointed and not sure if I will be coming back. Mistakes happen but when they happen very often and are lied to the customers face about it is truly unacceptable. I donāt blame the business or the owner at all but these workers need to be help accountable. And I would like...
