The shop could use a little work. It's nothing special to look at and it is a little run down. I thought there would be candy sold here too based on Google pictures, but there isn't. It is just ice cream. They only take cash which is super strange since most people no longer carry cash these days. Thankfully we were traveling and I always carry a little cash on me when we do, so we were able to try their ice cream. My husband had the lemon Oreo ice cream while I opted for a mix of the chocolate peanut butter and the Reese's. My husband enjoyed his ice cream very much, but I'm not a fan of lemon so I can't judge that flavor. Mine were both ok flavors, not bad and not great. The chocolate PB lacked peanut butter chunks and basically just tasted like chocolate ice cream. The Reese's was better, but the PB cups were cut up too small to enjoy the flavor of an actual Reese's PB cup. Other than these things, the ice cream was creamy and thick. The amount received for the price was a good value. There wasn't a huge selection of flavors. I would've liked more chocolate options to choose from, but overall I would recommend this place if you have a little cash on you and are...
Read moreDon't let the one sour review from Miranda Byrd keep you from going (it has incorrect information anyway). The ice cream was among the best I've had. Lots of regular and "specialty" flavors. Tons of options - and very, very reasonably priced. $6 gets you a double scoop waffle cone with 2 huge scoops - at least 33% larger than most ice cream shops. Friendly staff - even on a busy day. It is no surprise that this shop has been around for 30 years. It was wonderful.
AND, to Miranda Byrd who complained about the banana split - you gave incorrect info. The $7 banana split comes as you would expect - with 3 huge scoops of ice cream, banana, 3 different toppings (included) and whipped cream & cherry. There are nearly a dozen toppings and you can pay 0.50 extra for MORE than the 3 traditional ones,...
Read moreThe ice cream was good. Loved the lemon oreo! It's cash only, but there's an "atm" inside. It's a debit card reader that you pay, get a receipt, take to the counter, get your cash.
The three stars vs five is because of the staff. One was friendly enough, one was flippant at best, and then the third I think was not currently working but in-store as a customer. I'm not sure. She made a loud deal about not paying until the next day, stepped in front of the few of us in line, and then she stood in front of the counter with friends, virtually blocking part of the cases and counter. She carried on a conversation with one of the staff even as the rest of us were ordering and paying.
I came here on a recommendation from two different Welcome Centers. I had higher expectations.
But the ice cream...
