An open letter to the employees of The Mousetrap: A deli can have great food and atmosphere but if the customer service is terrible with the customer left feeling unwanted and unappreciated, they are not coming back. My wife is not coming back. She is dealing with cancer and a trip to The Mousetrap was her first venture out on her own since she began treatment. A simple trip to get lunch. She's lost her hair and wears a cap. I don't know that this was a factor, but the three employees behind the counter interacted with a gentleman in the store ahead of her and completely ignored my wife. Did not welcome her to the store. Did not ask if she needed help. Did not engage at all in any warm or kind way. Instead, she was treated initially with silence, then smirks, and eventually a curt, "Yes, this is where you order. What do you want?" She told them, "Never mind," and left the store. All hopes for a pleasant simple trip to get lunch dashed and replaced with the sting of callous indifference and disdain. She will not be back, and I have shared this story with at least a half dozen friends and will continue to share it. The moral: Do better. Treat all people with kindness, courtesy,...
Read moreSuper disappointed in The Mouse Trap today, Ive been coming since I was little and my Mom was a regular before that, my daughter was in a rush to get to campus today and needed a quick sandwich, I sent her to The Mouse Trap and when she walked in the 3 employees looked at her and continued cleaning, she stood around for a minute and finally asked if she could get a Turkey sandwich, the employee she asked huffed a little and made her a Turkey sandwich, meanwhile 2 other guests came in and were greeted with smiles and Hellos and appeared to be regulars, Im a regular, my daughter isn’t but I sent her there because the food is always great and the service is spectacular, not today and not for my daughter who happens to be biracial, I’m not the type to pull the race card but if everyone else was treated awesome and she wasn’t what else should we think? It makes me sad because this place is a little peace of my growing up but if my daughter isn’t welcome neither is my money. Super disappointed. Shame on the 3 people working today...
Read moreI have eaten here three times over the past four months or so. There were three in our party each time. We arrived between 11am and 12pm. I note the time because, without fail, at least two to three items that our group ordered during each visit was sold out. It seemed to be different each time, however - meat, cheese, side items, and bread types included. These were all items that were on the menu (I verified) and nothing that could be considered a "special item." Had this been a late lunch, around mid- or late-afternoon, I could possibly understand that some items may be sold out due to demand. In addition, the quality of the food here has decreased dramatically in the past several years. I can only guess that they have started buying less expensive brands in an attempt to cut costs. There seems to be some mismanagement at work here, and I would recommend potential patrons avoid until (if) they are able to turn it around. We won't...
