⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in Lexington – Zun Zun is Pure Magic Zun Zun is more than a restaurant — it’s an experience. Tucked into a cozy corner of Lexington, it offers the kind of charm and warmth you rarely find anymore. We dined outside in what can only be described as a private oasis — lush, quiet, and intimate — like we had the whole world to ourselves for the evening. From the moment we sat down, we were in the best hands. Matt, one of the owners (along with his wife Becca), was also our server, and his thoughtful presence shaped the entire experience. He didn’t just recommend dishes — he asked about our palates, preferences, and even our dislikes, and tailored his suggestions with genuine care. Everything he brought out felt like it was meant just for us — and it was. My boyfriend loved the beer he was drinking, and the bartender went so far as to go into the back storage room to find the box so we could source it ourselves later. That kind of attention to detail is rare and deeply appreciated. The entire evening felt unhurried, personal, and truly welcoming. When my boyfriend casually mentioned he wasn’t a fan of chocolate, Matt remembered — and instead of the usual truffle at the end of the meal, he brought out a limoncello digestif that perfectly suited his taste. It was a surprise and a highlight, all because Matt was listening without us even realizing. And then — as if all of that wasn’t enough — just before we left, I commented on the Zun Zun sticker that came with our bill, saying “aww, the girls will love this.” Matt immediately asked how many girls we had, and within minutes, returned with an extra sticker and two Zun Zun temporary tattoos for them. It was the sweetest, most thoughtful touch — something small that spoke volumes about the kind of heart behind this place. The design and decor add another layer of magic. Every detail is personal: flatware and dishes are sourced from local artisans, including pottery made just down the street, and even some of the china belonged to Matt’s grandmother. It’s eclectic, elegant and meaningful — just like the food. As for the food… absolutely fabulous. We shared spiced fries and the melon-Stilton salad with white balsamic, followed by polenta succotash and swordfish. Dessert was an almond yogurt cake that I insist you try — soft, flavorful and just the right amount of sweet. Drinks? Just go. Whether it’s happy hour at the bar or dinner cocktails, everything is house-made — no shortcuts, no syrups from a bottle, just fresh, inspired flavors. We always say we don’t go out just for the food — we go for the experience. Matt, Becca and the team at Zun Zun deliver that in every sense of the word. Zun Zun is a must-visit, and we can’t wait to return.

Great food in a relaxed atmosphere from an established local chef. We’ve been several times this year, and it’s one of favorite “night out” spots in the area. Recently we came with some friends and ordered everything on the menu except one dish, which the chef brought out for us to try on the house, and we really loved it all. The atmosphere is more casual than the previous restaurant that was in this location, but the food is as creative and well prepared, and the more frequent menu changes make it interesting to return on a regular basis. In terms of prices, it’s in line with established “new American” and other fine dining restaurants in town, a bit above the local pubs but not too expensive. I’ve lived in the area for years, and this is a great addition to the town. I can understand the people who earnestly debate which restaurants in town to rank as either 4 stars or 5 in relation to others in town, but the handful of one star reviews of this place that lower the average are spam attacks with an agenda.

A hidden gem in Lexington. Cozy seating, warm atmosphere, open kitchen. The staff are always so friendly. The place doesn’t get too noisy or crowded. Now the food- I love the shareable gourmet bites they offer. They source their ingredients locally. Presentation is outstanding- they truly follow the idea that you eat with your eyes first. I took a bite of their recent Tuna appetizer and lost my train of thought. With my review, I’ll leave some pictures of the past few visits. The crab and lobster cakes pictured were AMAZING. The truffles are handmade in small batches, and a pleasant surprise at the end of a good meal. Don’t pass this place up if you’re passing through!

Me: Better than any other fine dining experience that I've witnessed within the last year, let alone Lexington. Matt & Rebecca (Husband & Wife) have the hospitality piece on lock down and the ambiance within and out of the restaurant screams southern and hospitality. Seriously the customer service is ridiculous. The food is packed with great flavor as the cooks know exactly what they are doing back there. This all inclusive establishment has exceeded my expectations by far; pull the trigger and drop in. There is so much character where every thing is way more than meets the eye.

My Significant Other: Zun Zun is more than a restaurant — it’s an experience. Tucked into a cozy corner of Lexington, it offers the kind of charm and warmth you rarely find anymore. We spend a pretty good amount of time in this place, have done since just before the pandemic.

I'm a huge fan of blue, and I love the new post-Red Hen interiors, the streaming films (looking at you, Rita Hayworth, a lot) and accompanying music included. Someday I'll pull off my oft-promised B&E job and swipe that carved wooden shark.

So my bias is even clearer, we have a regular spot at the end of the bar, and we spend a lot of our time in house talking to the crew. This is a local joint in every sense, soup to nuts.

The thing, of course, is the food. These people love their craft, they're good at their jobs, and what they serve is on point -- most recently a ridiculous lobster bisque.

I'm a firm believer that the only real metric that counts with regard to french fries is "fresh," but theirs will be up there with the best you'll ever have. Fresh "ketchup" too.

Carnivores, pescatarians, whatever, they know how to fire what you need, with flavor.

I grew up in a household with several bakers, and the pastry/cake stuff here consistently reveals ambition as well as the attention to detail that makes and/or breaks desserts.

Wines are well-chosen, and the whisky list is growing in all the best ways.

If you read closely enough, you'll understand that a too-large number of reviewers are here not to provide good information but to kick down the barn. And any jackass can do that.

If you love food and you love to talk about food with other people who love food you will...
