Mug's Pizza and Ribs of Melrose Park — Restaurant in Leyden Township

My associate and I were greeted warmly and professionally by Jessica as we entered the restaurant, which was clean - especially so during a dinner rush (1830ish Tuesday, 16 May 2017). Jessica was friendly and made sure that we had answers to any questions we may have had. She recommended the BLT as "pretty awesome", to which my associate concurred after thoroughly enjoying his BLT. I ordered the Italian Beef with sweet peppers in the hopes that, since Mug's was "just a hole in the wall place", my sandwich flavor would be a solid 5 on a scale of 10. I could not have been more wrong on my expectations! Mug's Italian Beef sandwhich (at least at their Melrose Park location) scores an outstanding 10/10. The fresh roll was crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. This is no run-of-the-mill roll, either as it had delicious flavor. Next were the massive piles of simply the hottest, juiciest, most flavorful Italian Beef in the State of Illinois! I added sweet peppers as I am wont to do, and they were adequate in flavor and quailty. I am an enthusiastic CARNIVORE. I have had Italian Beef Sandwiches all over the metropolitan area as well as outstate areas and, in my honest opinion, NO ESTABLISHMENT, including the big name places can begin to compete with this Hercules of a sandwhich which just so happens to cost UNDER 6 bucks. Yes, you read it correctly...a $25 - $35 value sandwich for under 6 bucks. It is most unfortunate for me that my regular area of operation is prohibitive for me to be a regular or repeat client @ this Mug's. So as to not sound like a homer or friend of management, and with a strong desire to provide a fair and honest review, I must say that the stacks and stacks of pop immediately behind the service counter was slightly off-putting. The only "complaint" I can offer is that I chose Mug's because they advertise ribs on their google search page, which they do offer; however, the posted prices for ribs were far too cost-prohibitive for my desire. I truly would have absolutely LOVED to try their ribs, though. In closing, overall - I recommend Mug's BLT and most especially their LEGENDARY Italian Beef sandwich to every reader. You will not find a better one in the state...

Rude service, he’s racist towards his own kind (Mexicans), My mother order through the phone she had to repeat her card number plenty of times for him (the Manager) because instead of lowering his music so he can understand her he just hung up the phone! So I called asked for the manager and it was him so I explained the situation and instead of being helpful he rudely kept cutting me off from what I was trying to say, so I kindly asked him to let me finish speaking, he denied that, aswell kept telling me how frustrated he was instead of letting me order and go ahead with my day, so I asked him can I place the order or not. Since I didn’t care to go back and forth with him. He said I’m denying service because you’re frustrating me and hangs up.

You would think since he speaks Spanish he’d be helpful to the Mexican community of Melrose Park, but he is not, Do not work in the food industry if you’re not able to handle it in all honesty, do better ! I honestly hope you’re really not...

My family and i have been eating at this place for years--and despite past instances(them double charging me, burning my food, and putting entirely WAY too may cheese on one pizza) i decided to order 3 Italian beef sandwiches, and a cheese fry. I consumed 25% of my sandwich before tossing it back onto my plate in disgust. NO SEASONING AT ALL AND MY CHEESE CUP WAS SO OLD THAT THE TOP HAD MELTED- the Styrofoam looked tastier! The rest of my family agreed as i dialed the restaurant. The lady i spoke with told me she would call me back once she spoke to the manager-- i seen the missed call and returned it-- the same lady answered but suddenly had amnesia-- refused to give me my money and hung up on me. I went up there and the manager told me the same thing. I had my receipt AND my sandwich as proof and was STILL TURNED AWAY! Eat at this place at your own risk!! $29 DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN-- SHAME ON THIS RESTAURANT!!! When they close I...
