The Tapastry, Libertyville The Tapastry in Libertyville is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining local matters. Family-owned and filled with heart, it offers not only great food and drinks but also a genuine sense of welcome. We sampled several dishes, each one delicious. The potato croquettes were crisp and comforting, the chimichurri steak perfectly seasoned, and the calamari—paired with a curry dipping sauce—stood out for its wonderfully balanced flavors. The garlic shrimp was also a favorite, tender and flavorful without being overpowered. The bar program deserves special mention. Our bartender, Charles, was knowledgeable and attentive, while the mixologist was experimenting with a floral gin infusion that looked as lovely as it sounded. Between the inventive craft cocktails and the thoughtfully curated wine selection, there’s truly something for every palate. What makes The Tapastry shine most, though, are the people. The owners, a gracious local couple, took time to chat with us, adding a personal warmth you don’t often find. Their 13-year-old son even helps as a food runner once a week, which adds to the homegrown charm. The bill was surprisingly reasonable for the quality and care that went into every aspect, and the casual atmosphere made the whole experience relaxed and welcoming. In short: fantastic food, excellent drinks, and genuine hospitality. A Libertyville gem worth returning to...
Read moreWe went here last night and had a fantastic dinner and overall experience. The food was all delicious and came out lightning quick! We were so impressed. Our server, Kai and the young man that brought our food out were both fantastic. Kai was helpful with recommendations and super sweet. Our favorites were the beet and burrata salad (pictured), the chimichurri steak, the garlic shrimp, and the affogato for dessert (I seriously can’t stop thinking about this one and it brought me right back to being in Europe). The restaurant is beautiful, they have a happy hour drink special but we ordered mocktails which were delicious! We really felt like we were off on vacation while we were there. It’s a great date spot but we also had our newborn with us and they were very accommodating. The owner (I believe) even came over to congratulate us and offered a private room for changing and nursing if I needed it. We will definitely be back and plan to try the paella next time. It’s a great addition to the area-a great little Spanish restaurant is something we’ve been...
Read moreWe went to The Tapastry on Friday night and sat at the bar and it was a great experience from start to finish! The bartender, servers, and owners were all incredibly attentive. We’ve been here a few times before and always appreciate that the owners take the time to stop by, get to know their guests, and share their enthusiasm for the restaurant, travel and the community.
We ordered the meatballs, marinated olives, (two orders of!) patatas bravas, beets and burrata, steak chimichurri, croquettes, and drinks — everything was excellent. Alex’s espresso martini was the perfect “dessert” to end the night and highly recommended.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, definitely do - it’s tucked away in the corner near Walgreens on 137, a true hidden gem and a wonderful addition to...
