Trish was our delightful and precious server today. A sweeter woman you have never met. She walked us through the specials and took our orders. We had enjoyed a late breakfast due to an early Dr visit so we weren't really hungry but needed a 2 pm fill up. This was a truck stop that was disguised as a nice restaurant or a nice restaurant disguised as a truck stop. Clean tables and comfortable seats leaned me toward the nice restaurant scenario. We ordered the Chili cheese fries and fried mushrooms from the appetizer menu Both came out quickly and were steaming hot. The chili cheese fries were covered with hearty chili and cheese. Cooked ground beef was all over the place in large chunks. Seasoned to please. The light kidney beans and the whole dish were wonderful. Plenty for two. Our other appetizer was fried mushrooms. They were hot and crisp. The horseradish on the side was fresh and good. Trish, our server, kept things moving on and off the table. She was a delight. Some things I saw on other tables were the chopped steak that looked huge and was covered with a good looking brown gravy. Another was the big cheeseburger. I think it was called the Trucker. It was huge. Lots of lettuce, tomatoes and bacon. Looked delicious. These items will be on our next visit. The menu also featured cat fish and a full breakfast menu served anytime included omelets, pancakes and French toast as well as ham, sausage and thick bacon. The place was clean and quiet. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. Smelled fresh and recently attended. We will put this on our regular lunch rotation. We hope to see...
Read moreThought I might stop in for a bite,..barely made it to the entrance and spotted and smelled smoke all over...really caught me off guard, haven't seen that in awhile...as an exsmoker, I can say that I appreciate the fact that some places still allow smokers the freedom to smoke before, during, and after their meal..i also think that these places may get more business if it wasn't allowed, after all, even smokers have to eat, but non-smokers can probably find another restaurant pretty easily that doesn't allow it.... The non-smoking sections in some of these restaurants is a joke.... In another review somebody referred to people like me as cry babies... I turned around and walked out, because the smell repulses me now, after being able to kick the habit... If the fact that I don't like inhaling other people's second hand smoke, and exposing My wife and kids to the polluted air when some of them have asthma and other breathing problems, if that makes me a crybaby, well, then call me to cry baby.... Again, I'm happy for the people that can't go an hour without a cigarette, I'm happy that they still have the freedom to light up at the table, luckily, for the rest of us, only at a...
Read moreAs a frequent patron of the boiler room, I was shocked when my most recent visit culminated in my detention by the police. The circumstances surrounding my detention were innocuous, involving hugs from two waitresses, one of whom was unfamiliar to me. The waitress with the short, fat build and wide hips had allegedly contacted the authorities to report me. I provided clarification to the officer, explaining that the hugs were entirely innocent and that I had done nothing wrong. Upon verification of my identification, the officer instructed me to leave the premises. Consultation with my attorney has revealed that under Alabama law, I may have grounds to pursue legal action against the restaurant for malicious prosecution, defamation, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Furthermore, if the accusations were to result in my termination, I could also pursue a claim for wrongful termination against the company. In light of this experience, I have made the decision to boycott this truck stop, as they appear to prioritize restricting customers' freedom over fostering a welcoming...
