This is THE BEST Mexican food I have found in the state of Arkansas! I'm from Southern California, I think I know a thing or two about good Mexican food. I've been in Mexico and the food wasn't as good as La Villa Mexicana. The atmosphere is rustic, very reminiscent to some restaurants in Mexico. The staff is friendly and courteous and the service is EXCELLENT! I had carnitas with beans an rice. My wife had chicken enchiladas. The cheese dip (an Arkansas thing I guess) is creamy, smooth, and very tasty. The salsa is spicy enough for the heat-deamons, of which I am one, yet not so spicy that a non heat-demon can't enjoy it. The carnitas are succulent, tender, and full of flavor. The refried beans are perfect! They taste like the beans a friends mother used to make. The rice is full of flavor. Each grain fluffy and individually delicious. The tortillas are, litterly, smoking hot when brought to the table. My wife's enchiladas are better than mine (and I make a mean enchilada). Full of tender, juicy, flavorful chicken, delicately seasoned to perfection. Do not pass this place. You will be soo happy AND full...
Read moreEasy to find location, clean looking outside and inside. No line, was quickly seated (1:00 P.M.) Order taken fairly quickly, Quesadilla Grande for her, Tamales for me. Her meal came with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, some other fixings, mine the tamales covered in red sauce with some ground beef sprinkled on top and beans & rice on the side. The side dishes weren't really warm, but I was hungry enough I didn't want to wait long so i ate them anyway. The masa was very thick and the filling wasn't. Flavor was ok, but nothing special, on both meals, this the reason for just 3 stars, The restaurant was never busy while we were there which resulted in the common happening of an inattentive wait staff. All and all, I might have deducted another 1/2 star if it...
Read moreI stopped by here yesterday for lunch in my ongoing quest for good Mexican food. It's come to the point that if I see a Speedy Gonzalez item in the lunch specials that means their food will be basic. They had said item so instead of my usual taco/enchilada combo plate I tried their Burrito Mexicano. It was pretty large and filled with asada, beans, rice and a few other things. It was also covered in red sauce, queso and green sauce. Nice presentation but flavor was just ok. The red sauce was odd cuz it had a sweetness to it. The service was good and prices were about average. Guess I'll...
