Little Szechuan GoGo
I'm editing this review and taking away a star. The date is March 2023 and Little Szechuan has new owners. The food is pretty much the same high quality and although I have not eaten inside the Restaurant, I can often see, when I go in, that service is still very good.
All that said; a sign of the times, Little Szechuan has raised their prices and in some cases stinted on the extras that generally came without an extra charge. For example; I ordered two small Hot-n-Sour Soups and got one bag of crispy noodles, previously I would have been given two bags and there would have been no charge. Not only did I get charged for the extra bags I asked for, but the Person who helped me gave me a long story about why I was being charged the extra amount and it was completely convoluted. I had absolutely no idea what he was trying to explain to me. Nonetheless, I apologized for the inconvenience, paid the $3.00($1.00 per bag) and left, noting that I'd edit my review later.
Wonderful Restaurant. Great food. The soups, entrees, all excellent. Service is great. They are generally very busy on the weekends.
I recommend the Hot-n-Sour Soup, General Tso's Fish or Chicken, the Chicken Cashew is great. You get crispy noodles and Hot Tea on the table to begin and fortune cookies at the conclusion. You used to get Orange slices. But that is no longer the case. Too bad, I...
Read moreI visited Little Szechuan in Little Silver NJ on 5/19/2024. I have been coming here with my family for the delicious food, wonderful people and lunch specials for over 20 years! However, new owner has taken over and I had a terrible experience on 5/19/2024 and previously since new owners. On Sunday 5/19/2024 I arrived around 1pm with my family and me. We sat down and tried to order lunch specials. The waiter says there is no lunch specials on Sundays. I wanted to ask, "Is this new?" but I said ok. I was thrown off guard by the information given to me as my family and I specifically comes here for the the lunch specials. We ended up staying and eating although we were not happy and ended up with an $80 bill!! Just a heads up, apparently there are no more lunch specials on Sundays and the prices have been raised. Customer Service is at its worse as my waiter's phone was ringing on loud as she was taking our order, and all the waiters were behind the main desk on the phones most of the time, giggling and not attentive to the customers. The waitress I had on more than one occasion does not have good hospitality and when you ask for something it seems like you are a bother. I wish they would have told me before sitting down about the "new" no lunch specials on...
Read moreI visited a second time since they re-opened. My second visit was MUCH worse. To start, the shabby looking "OPEN FOR DINE IN" printer paper sign is still up in all it's tasteless glory. Upon entering, I was greeted with equally trashy top 40's music blasting on the speakers. The lights were off as well, adding to the sleazy ambiance. None of the employees were in in uniform, and our waitress was wearing what can only be described as pajamas. The classic Little Szechuan crispy noodles appetizer is no longer provided at seating, and we had to specifically request it (they were stale.) Hot tea was also not provided, and when requested, my party of 5 was given a single cup. We also ordered water, and again, received only one glass. Napkins were not provided, and yet again had to be requested. My friend ordered the beef with broccoli, and we were both horrified to discover that it was tasteless, impossibly tough, and literally inedible. I am horrified at how far this place has fallen since re-opening. It seems as if the new owners are not at all concerned about preserving the legacy of this restaurant. The "Little Szechuan" name should be removed- "GoGo" sums it up by itself. All they are missing...
