There are two things this macaron shop claims which are on right par with their advertising:
āNot your average macaronā, and naming the business, āSomething Sweetā.
They are both correct. This is not your traditional French macaron, which are typically light, airy, and donned with a touch of delicate sweetness. These large cookies are incredibly dense, overpowered by an intense level of sugary sweetness that can only be compared to eating a spoonful of pure sugar by itself. It was hard to tell if there was actually any distinctive flavoring, as the sugar overpowered every other ingredient. These macarons are very āAmericanizedā, reinforcing the stereotype of desserts loaded with enough sugar to cause the sudden onset of type 2 diabetes. It is rare that I spit out my food, but I could not in good faith swallow such an abysmal creation. These macarons truly are an insult to the original cookie and all that it embodies. I cannot express my disgust and disappointment with these macarons enough, while also continuing to remain poised and respectful.
Sadly, after excitedly spending around $30 for a box, as I love macarons, I ended up throwing all of them away. My husband, nor my daughter (who loves sweets) could stomach more than a bite. If you come here and are expecting a real macaron and delicate little treat, leave. I strongly urge you to find an authentic macaron patisserie, before you are severely disappointed.
Despite my disdain for their unsavory macarons, the staff were very friendly and very wonderful people. I wholeheartedly wish the owners success with their business, however I cannot support them in...
