The Castle Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Littleton

My barber recommended this place to me years ago. I’ve been a few times, most recently this past Tuesday which just so happened to be BOGO 50% burger night.

Previous trips I’ve dined in and usually went wild on the burger— the green chili is decent, I think one of the bartenders makes it herself. Tasty on the burger. They’ve got a jalapeño popper burger, blue cheese burger and then some. Fries you can get “zesty” tossed in a variety of seasonings.

This time we got to go. Called in the order for two basic burgers with fries and cokes. Called again to add an order of fried mushrooms. The burgers were good— and I’ll tell ya what separates them from being outstanding is that they are sorely under seasoned. Like I’m not sure there’s any seasoning on them but they are juicy and perfectly cooked every time.

Fries were lackluster as I forgot to order with zest. Fried mushrooms honestly not my favorite. I prefer the seasoned breadcrumb fried mushroom as opposed to the beer bartered onion ring style. Also their ranch is awful, tasted like classic Sysco economic 4/1 jugs of ranch. Like plastic almost. Not sure why anyone buys jugs of ranch it’s cheaper and way better to use a 30lb bucket of mayo and some buttermilk (hint hint!). But, i digress.

I’m not one for bars as I don’t really drink often anymore. You can tell a lot about a bar by the crowd it attracts. Simple folks talking about simple things here— seems like most of the patrons know each other either directly or mutually. Bartenders are real sweet and service is relatively quick.

We stopped in Thursday night, and just loved the staff. Absolutely loved the regulars, and decided this could be our Neighborhood Bar. We figured we'd be back in, in a week or so, but actually ended up back in the following evening, and for bbq night. We came in around 8pm, hungry, and some of the BBQ things had sold out, so we've got to make it back in a bit earlier on a Friday, to be able to try the smoked wings & the ribs, but we sure enjoyed the Kielbasa, and Brisket sandwich. The night before, one of us had the French Dip, and one of us had the Philly Cheese; both were amazing, but I'm telling you, that Philly Cheese dipped into the French Dip's Au Jus??, Fu-ged-about-it. The meat on both sandwiches was so juicy and flavorful. As to the staff, Allie & Ashley were awesome, friendly, obviously just genuinely loved by all the regulars, and on Friday night they were joined by Justin, and he was charming as well. And when we came back in Friday night, Allie greeted us with a big smile, and by name. You can't beat that kind of service with a smile. The regulars that we've met, so far, are such a huge part of the charm for us. 3 of the people we've met, have been coming in for over 30 years. !!! That is astonishing. We enjoyed sitting at the bar with various people the two different nights, and chatting. Easygoing, friendly staff, really great food, decent prices on drinks, and long term regulars have kept this place thriving. What more could one need in a place...

Great food - COME HUNGRY!!! ---- REAL HANDMADE fried mushrooms could be a meal by themselves! They were hand battered and cooked perfect. These mushrooms had phenomenal taste and the batter was so light and delicious! No oil or water burning your mouth when you take that first bite like at other places ---- Jalapeno Bacon Cream Cheese Burger From top bun to bottom bun it was great portion of each thing. Bun, Bacon, Jalapenos, Cream Cheese, Thick Juicy Beef Patty, Bun. Plus all the veggies you could add & huge side of Fries ----- 1/2 Rack of Smoked Ribs I dont typically like BBQ and these ribs were amazing! The smoke ring on these ribs was almost perfect! The crust was sooooo good. Served with slaw and side of BBQ sauce.

Family friendly environment - We were there from 1130am-130pm & Kids were welcome at this time.

Wonderful customer service - When we walked in we were greeted by Dawn, upbeat & smiling. The entire place was busy in no time Tables were full. She confidently managed to keep all 27 customers happy on her own. With little to no wait time for refills!

Good music - You can stand play the jukebox or sit at you table and play it from your phone!

Clean - Social distancing clearly labeled all staff were properly masked!
