Very good bakery. We've enjoyed their very good pies and excellent cookies since they opened some years ago.
Only negative experience I've had is when an older female employee I did not recognize assisted me in buying a cherry pie, three dessert bars, six Russian Tea Cake cookies, three ginger snaps, and three iced ginger snaps (12 cookies, total), this afternoon.
She overcharged me by $1.00 ($10.00) for nine un-iced cookies, and failed to give me a $1.00 discount for buying a dozen cookies. Total over-charge: $2.00. (For a moment, I thought I had been transported to France or Mexico, where I have learned to watch service people like a hawk.)
After reviewing the receipt to verify this, I went back to the counter and asked why I had been charged for 13 cookies when I only bought a dozen, and why I had not been given the correct discount for buying a dozen.
She acknowledged her mistake in charging me $10.00 for 9 cookies, and refunded $1.00.
She then explained the discount of $1.00 per dozen only applies if you buy one dozen identical cookies. I responded, "I have been coming here for years, and that is the first time I have ever been told that!"
She then asked a tall, slender young man who resembles the woman who, I have surmised over the years, owns the bakery to confirm this. He responded that I should receive a discount of 50¢ per six cookies, and refunded another dollar.
"All's well that ends well.". Yet, this ended well only because I noticed. Most people would not notice, and fewer would challenge it.
Since I have previously had no problems of this sort, there, I will assume it was not deliberate, but the result of inadequate experience or training of the employee.
I was a bit miffed, however, that they were not more appropriately apologetic. Where I come from, mistakes like that would have gotten your [behind] fired, but where I come from doesn't even exist where I come...
Read moreI love supporting local businesses as I own one, so when I'm looking for a place to eat I want to try the local fare. While in this neighborhood, I found this family owned bakery and deli! Two of my favorite things - sandwiches and baked goods! Their bread is baked in house and is also sold in loaves. I had the tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, purple onions, and banana pepper. As you can see, it was a worthy dagwood and was as delicious as it looks.
The choices for baked goods are many. They have everything from cookies and cakes to turnovers and pies. Yum. I got two peanut butter cookies and two ginger snap, one of my favs that are hard to find. They didn't disappoint. The ginger cookies are some of the best, if not the best, I've ever had; large, thick, meaty, and chewy. So good.
Ironically, though ordinary, this is an old fashioned, down to earth, simple but quality, refreshing change from the ordinary, if that...
Read moreCame here on a recommendation and had high hopes this classic bakery would offer some great options! We got breakfast burritos, croissant sandwiches and some cinnamon rolls. We may have ordered the wrong items. The breakfast burritos and sandwiches were the quality you’d expect at a coffee shop, frozen and microwaved to order. They were not bad and they were decently priced. The award-winning cinnamon rolls were a different story. These were dense and the flavor lacked a richness you’d hope for with homemade cinnamon rolls. I think it’s because the icing is made with margarine instead of cream cheese or butter. While this may their way of doing it, I don’t think it produced a good product. Their cakes and sweets looked lovely, so I’d consider trying those next time if I’m in the area. I would ask if they are made with margarine before paying though. Live...
