After reading all the great reviews, my fiancé and I were excited to try Wild Ginger. We pulled into the parking lot and were immediately put off by the run down appearance of the outside. But we took our chances and went inside anyways. The place was packed and much nicer inside. We were thrilled to see authentic named Thai dishes on the menu, since we had just returned from a 9 week trip traveling all over Thailand. We did not get our hopes up in expecting anything like the incredible food we had experienced in Thailand, but hoped it would at least be comparable to other great Thai restaurants in the states based upon the positive reviews. We were sorely mistaken.
The spring rolls were unlike anything I had ever experienced and were so terrible that we could not continue to eat them after one bite. I have never sent food back in my entire life, but this dish we did. They were soggy, smothered in a very sweet sauce, and came with a side of bitter mustard. The waitress said this was Thai style. With our fingers crossed that it was just a mishap, we awaited our entrees. Looking back, we should have just paid and left, canceling the rest of our order. My Panang Curry only contained chicken. No vegetables aside from the three green pepper slice garnish was to be found in the entire dish. The curry sauce was gritty in texture and un-flavorful. I couldn't finish it. On the waitresses recommendation my fiancé' ordered basil stir fried pork and it was no better. It also contained 0 vegetables aside from the couple slivers of green pepper, and severely lacked in flavor, spice, and color.
The check of course contained the spring rolls we did not eat. And we saw our waitress only one time after sending them back.
Bottom line, save yourself the money and simply go anywhere else to eat. Poor excuse...
Read moreBeen eating at this local favorite since I was in high school, in fact I went to high schools with the owners son... Its definitely great Thai food and I've given them a million positive reviews over the years, not to mention a small fortune in business. These folks were like family to me.. Unfortunately, I'm terribly sad to say this restaurant I've been a religious customer of for 25 years or more has raised there prices so much so over the past few years that my family can no longer afford to eat here. My wife and I used to eat here minimum twice a week and we supported the hell out of this business during the lock down but they keep raising prices, times are tough all over and my family simply cant afford it anymore... Wild ginger used to be a reasonably affordable place to visit for excellent food. Now it's just expensive... I know the business well, its always thriving, clearly does very well but I don't think there cost of doing business has gone up anywhere close to how much they've raised there prices... It really feels like they punishing there loyal customers to be more profitable when times are tough. So sorry to have to write this but I will not be frequenting Wild Ginger any more... Lately we have been frequenting US thai which is a little farther north but you can still get a super awesome authentic Thai meal with big portions for 12-13$ a dinner. Compared to the 17/18$ price entry point at Ginger on there latest menu I'll take the drive and get just as good a meal for 35%...
Read moreMy family and I went to this restaurant for dinner for the first time tonight after reading the "great" reviews. However, upon entering the place, we immediately felt an unwelcoming vibe, especially from one of the staff. I'm assuming that she was the manager as she was wearing a blazer on top of her orange uniform (before taking it off later on)? That person was not friendly AT ALL, didn't smile at us, gave an unpleasant look to me, on top of talking rudely to me and my family, while asking if we had any reservations for the night (which we didn't). We can see her talking to other white customers politely with a smile on her face and asking them if they needed refills for their water, but she never asked us once if we needed a refill. She LITERALLY walked past our table multiple times while holding a jug of water!
Food wise: it was good, but the portion was small and quite pricey. All in all, not the best Thai food restaurant -- I'm Southeast Asian, hence I know good Thai food. Plus, we lost our appetite after that unpleasant dining experience so we wanted to leave ASAP as we definitely felt unwelcomed here. I know for sure we won't be coming here again for Thai food. Tbh, if you're a person of color, I wouldn't recommend dining here as you would be treated differently, and that's really sad because the staff who mistreated us is a Southeast...
