Went here for the first time recently. We didn’t have a reservation, but we were lucky enough to get the last available booth, so we didn’t have to wait. (They are still at limited capacity due to covid restrictions). We were seated and given menus. It was nice to get a paper menu vs having to scan and look on your phone. I noticed they were getting a lot of carry out orders, good sign. My boyfriend ordered a drink, the waitress struggled a little taking that order, but a younger waitress came over to help, she explained the original waitress’s English wasn’t perfect and apologized- no problem. We got our waters and drink, then ordered food. We just ordered a naan and one entree to split since we weren’t terribly hungry but just wanted a light dinner. We were shamed a bit for not ordering more food- “that’s all you’re getting???” Um yes? Anyway, my boyfriend finished his drink and ordered one more. The food took a very long time to come out, I would say we waited about 30 minutes after ordering. They were pretty busy with takeout orders so I’m sure the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed. I noticed the other tables around us were also looking towards the kitchen with empty plates too. The food finally arrived and to be honest it was the perfect amount of food for us. We both got half a naan and a full plate with rice and meat so I’m glad we didn’t order more. I will say the food was absolutely exceptional. I guess my only suggestion would be that I prefer a few more garlic bits in my naan, but that’s just a personal preference, the naan they served was very tasty. So overall, good experience and great food. Minus one star for very long wait for food and shaming that we didn’t order more. Would definitely...
Read moreUpdate: called the restaurant/manager back. First she asked me for a receipt. I mentioned I have a screenshot because I ordered on the app. Which she said is not acceptable. She said she is unable to do anything to make up for the bad food order. She was rude & hung up on me. Her name sounded like Naima. This is how they treat a customer who has been a regular for 4 years. ....
I usually order chicken biryani but this weekend I ordered vegetarian biryani. There were barely any vegetables in it and the cauliflower was undercooked.
I asked to substitute green chutney instead of yogurt and the green chutney was majorly watered down. Anytime I request to sub condiments it is met with rudeness from staff.
I called the restaurant and a manager/owner answered. She offered no resolution.
I have been ordering chicken biryani here 2-3x per month and the quality & quantity of chicken has gone down a ton. They add too much rice to fill the container. Side of yogurt is usually watered down as well. And if asked to sub yogurt to a small green chutney they try to charge $3.
Service at this restaurant is poor and after speaking with this manager/owner it is clear why.
Do not waste time and money at Zaika. There are way better Indian restaurants available in the neighborhood. Garnish for example offers better price for almost every entree, more chicken, better quality chicken and service and attitude of staff and manager is way better.
I am in no way affiliated to any restaurants. Just a regular customer who gets take away food and appreciates good service and good...
Read moreWent on Valentines Day and the place was packed. The server greeted us and told that we will be seated as soon as the table is cleaned (the table was empty and just needed cleaning). It took them a lot of time to get us seated (cos the same person was refilling waters on all the tables before coming and cleaning the empty tables). Finally were seated and then waited for another 10 mins before the same person came to take the order( given staff shortage everywhere , we can understand but they had the same folks before COVID also). Ordered the appetizers and main course at the same time ( they have 3 veg options in appetizers - gobhi , samosa and momos- ordered all and veg karahai, butter naan, garlic naan and veg biryani). The server suggested the spice level and went with level 4 as the server said that’s the spice level for Indian Spicy. Got the food quickly and didn’t had to wait much. Appetizers were all great ( 5 stars to appetizers with momos being the best) but when it comes to main course, looks like when asking for spice level 4 , all the chef did was add salt and pepper in the gravy and biryani and not exactly make it spicy. Adding salt and pepper does not make food spicy but it makes it salty and hot. Clearly the chef knows about Nepali food but not familiar with Indian spices. Garlic naan had no garlic in it but tasted like butter naan but have to say they were fresh and soft and cooked perfectly. Overall ok experience, they can be great if they can make their gravy and rice as tasty as...
