Grounded - Coffee and Local Delights — Restaurant in Livermore

Utterly disappointed with both the food & service. We were driving on 580, looking for a coffee spot that wasn’t a Starbucks; we tried to support a local business and we chose the wrong one. Their “fresh bagels” were hard as a rock; when I asked if they get their bagels locally, they replied “yes they’re from Bobs bagels”. Never heard of them to be honest but I kept an open mind. There was a reason they asked multiple times if I wanted the bagel toasted; it was sitting there at least 36-48 hours. Impossible to tear apart and just tasted bad. The lattes were not much better; very bitter coffee, difficult to drink even with sweeteners & milk. Service was very slow on top of everything. Yes they have a sign that says “breakfast items are made to order, please be patient”. Thing is you’re a stones throw away from the I-580 intersection and plenty of people are pressed for time. When you only have TWO employees working (one of them always in the back prepping food orders), those of us ordering coffee and a readymade pastry to go, have to wait forever. I went to Grounded with my two sons for our yearly fancy coffee outing. My sons had the Yasin roast pour-over coffee described by the barista as creamy. It was an experience in itself for my sons to watch the pour over coffee made. The coffee paired well with both the almond and cherry Danishes which were toasted to crispy perfection before being served. There was easily accessible half and half, brown and granulated sugars, stevia, simple syrup, and cinnamon to customize your drink with. My younger son put a lot of sugar and cream in, and despite it being too sweet for me, it was just right for him.
