Down Home Cafe — Restaurant in Livingston

First and Last time to eat there. They charge you double to eat there.!! Some dear friends of mine invited me to breakfast with their daughter, son n law and twin 2yr old granddaughters. Total of 5 adults and 2 children. It was after morning rush. We walk in ask for table. The host said ok go stand by the table in the corner. Someone will be with u. First waitress walks up we ask her about high chair. She says I'm not here to help you just here to clean off table. Second waitress walks up. Ask her she tells up ask her same question. She also isnt our waitress tells us we can sit now. Finally our waitress comes to table. We again ask about high chair. We are told we can only use one just incase someone else come in needing one. B.S. after she brings use 2 high chairs. Orders are taking drinks brought to table. Food comes out for half the table. Then 10 mins later the rest comes out. By this time the pancakes are cold basically all cold beside the grits. Go figure the grits are the only thing we didnt order. So after everyone is done. We go to pay. Now granted there is a sign on front door state a 20% tip will be added to your bill. For any tables over 5 people. 3 people on one tab, 2 and 2 kids on other tab. Not only the 20% to both party was added they also add another 10% cause of price of food has went up. Our bill was 55$ on one tab, 85$ on the other. 140$ to have cold food. An 60% of the bill was the extra percentage that they added.. shame shame. We should have went to the corner store for breakfast. Anything could have been better. Only reason I'm given 2stars is our waitress did her job. She cant help the kitchen...

This place is absolutely ridiculous. I purchased gift cards online for gifts. Handed some out and kept $60 worth. I had printed all of my gift cards to give out. I order food from this place and when I got there I hand her my gift cards and right off she wanted to say they didn't take them until she saw what they were printed from. Then they say they only want to take 1 at a time. Made me mad because I bought them all at the same time. So then I tell her to just one and give me $15 worth of food. Of course they can't do that either. So all of these gift cards I paid for and handed out only for you not to take them? I will take them all back and swallow that money before I ever honor your place with a single dollar. When I told the girl I was going to give them a bad review she smiles and says ok. That's fine my one review right now on Google may not matter, but I have a lot of followers. On top of that when I take all these gift cards back they will write reviews too. I can't believe you would be ok with just not letting me get my food. I have NEVER been more disgusted in my life. You can not get good service anymore. Ever. It's a shame. It's a pure waste of money to try to give these...

My daughter and I go to many places on weekends looking for antique sales which brought us to Walker today. We always find a hometown place to eat instead of chain restaurants. From the moment we walked in the place I guessed this was a wrong choice. The chairs were awful, busting and peeling. We picked a table that ended up being sticky. Our waitress was nice when greeting us. We looked at the menu and upon her return gave her our order. It didn’t take long at all and guessing that’s because we were the only customers there. The chicken was just ok as it wasn’t a typical chicken breast as it was more flat. The mac n cheese was awful. Tasted like it was a week old and just put into this dish and placed in the microwave. We each had a piece of cornbread on our plate and I could have threw it at the window and broke the glass because it was so hard. My daughter had the chicken as well and it was the same as mine. She also had okra which she orders from places all the time and she said it was not good at all. A $15 mistake stopping here. I couldn’t in my right mind recommend this place to...
