Read moreBEST MEAL in PUERTO RICO! Looks can definitely be deceiving, the exterior may not look like much, however you will be served with a smile and receive some amazingly delicious food. This was a five-star meal served in a beach town and I loved everything about it, except for the cat, LOL. My waitress was the sweetest person and made several recommendations and was a pleasure to talk to, Dov thank you for making me feel welcome. The chef came out and greeted everyone, I thought that was very cool! You could tell he was very genuine and really wanted everyone to enjoy their meal, this is a person that is working in his purpose.
Everything on the menu sounded so delicious and I love seafood, but I was dining solo. I still overdid it though, there was no way I could leave without trying one of the appetizers, especially since this was my last dinner on the island. I ordered the firecracker grouper and was so glad…OH MY GOSH! I went with the whole red snapper and tostones on the side, it was cooked to perfection and seasoned well, there was only bones left when I was finished. Dov recommended I try the tamarin sauce for the tostones and I agree it paired very well as a dipping sauce. Of course, it was too much food for one person, so I had my grouper for a late-night early morning snack. The fish is served at market price and since Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory expect to pay a little more.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with anything on the menu. I’m sad that I waited until my last night to come here, I can definitely see visiting this spot nightly because the food is just that good! Make sure you try the mojitos also, I ordered a passion fruit and blackberry and enjoyed both. After you eat go to the beach and watch the sunset and continue the party at one of the...
Read moreDoesn't look like much from the outside (definitely has that "hole in the wall restaurant" vibe) but this restaurant serves really good food. The evening we dined here they were short staffed so we unfortunately had to deal with extensive wait times... we waited an extensive amount of time just to have our drink order taken and then we had to wait an exorbitant amount of time to order our food. Once we got our food order in, it wasn't too long to get the food (kitchen wasn't short staffed). Despite all this, service was friendly and with a smile and he was really trying his best so I still gave 4* for service.
The firecracker grouper is absolutely delicious and lives up to all the hype in the other reviews. Probably my favorite preparation of grouper that I've tasted to date. I will say that it wasn't as crispy as I would have preferred it to be, but even so it was still so good. I had it as my entree instead of as an appetizer.
The empanada was the "best empanada I've had in my life" according to my daughter. If I return I'd love to try the lobster empanada. Check their hours before you go because we wanted to come back another night but they were closed.
The fried pork was only so so, I think you really have to stick to seafood here which is their specialty. We didn't order the whole snapper here, but I know it's another house specialty and the tables around us all ordered it and seemed to enjoy it.
The restaurant was a bit difficult to find in the dark as the sign out front is small and partially worn off... but if you are in the parking lot looking at Puerta Del Mar restaurant, it's just to the left. Plenty of parking when we came for...
