The service was very good, but the food was nothing great(see detailed comments about each food we ordered). Our server was very good, jovial, kind, and attentive. The ambience is amazing, modern, refreshing, amd lively. However, the food in the restaurant is just ok and a let down. I had better expectations because I think it's the same management as STIR in Chattanooga. We ordered the hummus, baked feta, sabich, and gelato.

The Hummus - was not great because it was not creamy on the tongue and it was too lemony. The flavors were not balanced. Hummus does vary from one middle eastern or medeterranian country to another. So maybe it's my preference for lemon not to stand out too much in hummus. It felt like they didnt add enough tahini. Maybe they are trying to go for a rustic style because there were whole chickpeas that did not look ground. Real good middle eastern hummus is supposed to be creamy and smooth on the tongue.

The Sabich - Two in our party ordered sabich without the egg. We specifically told no eggs and then they brought out the sabich sandwich and said these are the ones with no eggs. We ate it and it had soft boiled eggs and the runny yolk didn't taste good. The soft boiled eggs did not add anything to the sandwich, but instead took away from the other flavors. They should just do hard boiled like typical sabich. Their menu said sabich would have amba, which is a good sour mango flavor which counterbalances the richer flavors. But the sandwich had no amba sauce. Overall it wasn't a good sandwich. It lacked flavor and balance for me. But they can improve and make it good.

The baked feta - This was good. Had an olive tapanade thing on top of the baked feta and the whole dish ate well together.

Gelato - This was a disappointment. They should just call it what it truly is, which is ice cream. Or they should make a true and good gelato. The texture of the gelato was like ice cream. The good gelatos that I have had in Europe have a different mouth feel and the texture is thick and coats your tongue and sits on it for a while. The one at Masseys is not like that. The flavor of the pistachio gelato was good, but texture wasn't. The strawberry gelato did not have good intense flavor, it just tasted of milk. They should rather just do a good strawberry sorbet instead and that could be vegan as well, since they do not have any true vegan offerings.

For 16dollars the pizza wasn't that great to write home about. I ordered Italian sausage pizza for take out at the end. It had a few pieces of Italian sausage and more mushrooms. In their defense, it got cold when I took it home so I could judge whether it would have been better hot and fresh. I could go to Anticos is Atlanta and get good pizza...

The ambience of this restaurant is light-hearted and fun. Music plays and you are seated close to one another, so you need to go in with a relaxed and friendly attitude. Get to know your neighbors lol. The food was excellent. We got the falafel appetizer, which comes with hummus and pita triangles. Falafel and hummus both had really good flavor, crispy and light. I wish they served it with a few veggies, like cucumbers and carrots or something similar. That would've been perfect. The Greek chicken salad was also very good. Chicken was tender and flavorful. It also has olives, cucumber, banana peppers, feta, and cherry tomatoes. All the accompaniment ingredients were chopped to a similar size, which made the salad easy to mix, eat, and enjoy. The dressing was just enough to flavor without drowning the lettuce. It also comes with a small side of hummus and pita, which was delicious again. Unfortunately, the pizza we ordered was not the pizza we received. We wanted the Italian sausage, which comes with mushrooms, green pepper, onion, and tomatoes. What we got was the Greek chicken pizza. Basically the same as the salad in pizza form, with artichokes replacing the olives and cucumbers. It's a very large portion and it tasted delicious, it just wasn't what we ordered and it made the meal somewhat repetitive on the palate. The waitress apologized, and we didn't want to ask for another pizza to be made. Part of me was hoping she might offer a free scoop of gelato or maybe a small discount. We didn't see anyone who appeared to be a manager there, it seemed like the employees were on their own. The service was not bad, everyone was friendly and seemed to be trying their best, just in need of some experience and leadership if errors are made. Parking is just ok, no dedicated lot, only street parking nearby. Overall we really enjoyed the food we got, but we were disappointed that we didn't get what we ordered, so we left with a lukewarm feeling on whether we will make another trip up the...

Not a pretentious pizza place!!

So, I love good food but hate eating at pretentious restaurants. On a recent road trip my daughter and I were getting peckish as we cruised through the Lookout Mountain area and, when she saw Massey’s as we came around a curve in the road she said we should stop in.

They have a great patio with covered tables, huge windows, the vibe from the outside was modern and upscale casual so I checked their website. Artisanal pizza? Sounds pretentious…but we’d already parked and we were hungry so we gave it a shot.

WOW! Like seriously. When I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong and y’all, I was wrong. Everyone was very friendly and the food was awesome.

They’ve taken an historic space and modernized it, so it’s full of light and breeze. In addition to the patio area, they have table seating, and a fun, open air counter seating section along the front side of the restaurant.

Not knowing what the portion sizes would be we ordered way too much food and practically had to roll ourselves to our car.

I love trying new things, and the baked feta with olive tapenade was salty, cheesy deliciousness served on crusty bread.

We got a flatbread that tasted fresh and bright with spinach and balsamic vinaigrette and our pizza was SO good. The crust was light, just the right combination of crispy and chewy, and had a delicious, buttery flavor. The tomato sauce had a hint of sweet, which set off the salty pepperoni and delicious mozzarella in a way that made my taste buds sing. I’d say the pizza alone would’ve been enough to feed three hungry adults.

My husband loves pizza too. I am now going to have to plan a road trip for he and I to visit Lookout Mountain so I can introduce him to Massey’s Kitchen as well.

There is a bar here and I enjoyed a lemon cocktail that was super refreshing on a hot summer day.

Overall, an eye-opening, great experience. Massey’s, y’all can prove me...
