We have been fans of Claudine artisan kitchen and bake shop since it opened and anmong its soft opening customers years ago. Over the past several years, we have watched it grow and flourish even in the hardest of times owed in large measure to the chefs who own it and their dedicated and talented crew And staff members.
We had the opportunity to use their services to cater our daughter’s recent, baby shower, and everything from start to finish during the process was fantastic. We received personal attention when we went into the restaurant to place our order along with very helpful and practical advice from chef Lea. The food was delivered to our home, punctually and beautifully plated with all necessary extras so that all we had to do was unwrap the bowls and trays, and they were ready to be put out on the buffet. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious, the wraps were tasty, the salad, and the fruit were as though they had been picked that very day.
We ordered a custom-made and customized cake and provided the bakers there with a photograph to use as a starting point, and what they produced was exquisite – – as beautiful to enjoy with the eyes as it was for our guests to enjoy with forks! At the end of the afternoon we had less than a half a dozen 1,2 sized sandwiches left, one slice of cake which remained to be eaten, but which we will enjoy this evening, and very satisfied guests, who enjoyed every morsel.
I watched as the dishes came back into the kitchen after the buffet was over, I could not help a note how there was almost no food to be thrown out left on the plates. Everything seemed to have been consumed with great enthusiasm . Of course the Baby shower was about the baby and the expecting parents, but the food and the spirit of conviviality of sitting down with friends on a fairly large scale and sharing a great Lunch together made the day perfect.
Originally we had thought about going to several different places and picking up sandwiches at one place, fruit at another and ordering our cake at Claudine. We are so glad that we decided to do our one stop catering all at Claudine, where all of our needs were met for a very...
Read moreWhen we walked for the first time it was wow, the place looked great with an open kitchen, you see the cooks cooking, Baker is working on a cookies and baristas preparing coffees and all that in front of your eyes. There are no servers, you place an order with that cashier and grab a number. Pretty convenient as the line was not as long.
We came during breakfast hours so didn't have a chance to see other menus besides brunch. We had the truffle omelet toast, caramel Claudine, orange juice, tea, and a breakfast combination. We got the orange juice right away from the cashier (5 stars for the delicious fresh juice). It felt like forever to get the food, most of the people around us at least got drinks and some food and we were just sitting there for about 30 min just sipping on our orange juice. Mood...I got the toast and the mushrooms on the top were cold, besides that the flavors were pretty good but unfortunately eating that not warm wasn't fun. The toast came with mixed greens inside (not bad at all!).
The breakfast combination was nothing special. Eggs were just eggs, toast was pretty good toast and potato wedges were very plain, we had to put some salt to get a little flavor or something. The best was the fruit fresh and delicious , that's it.
Now for the bad part, we got the food but not the coffee, the tea and the side of ranch that we asked from the beginning so we asked the employee to bring it. She said that they got backed up and the coffee will be ready soon, I still don't understand while she didn't bring the ranch first but decided to serve it together with the drinks. It took about another 7 minutes while were finished 75% of the meal to serve the side of ranch and the drinks. Overall I think we will give it another chance...
Read moreI’ve been to Claudine Artisan Kitchen & Bakeshop a few times since they opened and it’s a bright new spot on the brunch scene in the San Fernando Valley.
I’m typically a hearty egg based meal type of guy for brunch so when I decided to get the Carrot Cake Porridge this time, it really was a leap of faith. And one I’m glad I took…this dish was phenomenal! Just the right amount of sweet with all kinds of ingredients that redefined what breakfast comfort food could be for me. This is a crave worthy dish that will fill you up and that your brain and tongue will be thinking about for years to come.
On a previous trip I had Lea’s Lightened Quiche. As a self-confessed francophile, if you’re going to have a vegetarian quiche on the menu, that’s pretty much automatically what I’m going to get. It was a generous size and generally tasty, but perhaps a little bit too salty for my tastes.
The french-fries here are are also done right.
They’ve got various creative coffee drinks (including unique flavors) but the house coffee, for you morning coffee purists, was done absolutely perfectly. Strong and flavorful. Serve it yourself in the drink area across from the order-counter. It really did the job.
They always have plenty of option for vegetarians…daily and unique specials, and one glance through the glass at the baked goods on display will probably have you locking their door behind you as you enter so you can have them all...
