While the pastries as pretty tasty (though they don't live up to the hype in my opinion) the overall experience leaves a lot to be desired.
-There is only street parking and, since this is located in a residential neighborhood, very limited space. You'll likely have to park a block or two away after doing a few laps.
-The selection of pastries is extremely sparse during their peak times (when everything is fresh) since the display cabinet is tiny and they only appear to create things in small batches to maintain the freshness. In other words the wait can be pretty long as the conga line of people all stand around for the next batch. If you're lucky, the next batch will be what you want, if not, you have to keep waiting and hoping.
-Quality control and consistency are not the greatest. I ordered two chocolate croissants, a cookie, and a fruit danish. The danish was great, the cookie was stale, and there was such a disparity in size of the croissants that my wife asked if I got a "mini" croissant along with the regular one. Too bad I paid for two regular sized chocolate croissants.
All-in-all the pastries are good, but it's the way the business is set up that has left a sour taste in my mouth that outweighed the sweetness. Hopefully, they will move after a few years to a better, bigger location that will improve on their consistency and ease of access.
For me, this bakery isn't worth the bother...

Iāve been here my whole life and Iāve always really disliked, even hated, the coffee shops that are in San Pedro. This is necessary for coffee connoisseurās like myself. They have great, no amazing, pastries. The coffee quality is really good and it is not watered down Because they know what theyāre doing. Overall I give this place a 10 out of 10 easy. Even though I have a $600 coffee machine at home, I still leave the house once a week to come and get coffee from Colossus. And a burrito from next door.
Iām updating my review because this is my favorite place. Not only is Coffee completely wonderful but so is the staff. This location reminds me that I live in a community that matters. They remember my name they remember what I order theyāre very friendly and consistent I love this place more than a review can even Express. All of their pastries, and their bread are incredible as well. Iāve never gotten anything from here that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove the viennoiserie here - their kouign amanns (so worth the calories), their croissant variations, etc. - so get anything that has been laminated. And their challah bread which you have wait until Friday for - most yummy! So why 4 stars? Well ... some of their buns and scones (both with cardamom) seem lacking. The cardamom knots seems under proofed (texture was tight) and heavy - the twists only on the surface and lacking inside after baking (my go to for these - MH Bread and Butter in San Anselmo). The scone was overworked and doughy instead of being slightly crumbly. Their OG cookies are delicious with the ceispy edges and chewy center when done right but watch out for an extra doomed cookie as extra baking powder or soda would have been added so it tends towards being extra salty. Keep up the good work on the viennoiserie. I hope they works on some of...
