Overall, our experiences at this restaurant have been great until today. We ordered the Chile Relleno plate, which we typically enjoy without any issues. Given that this dish costs nearly $20, we expect to receive a decent-sized chile, but this time we only received a very small jalapeño, if that. You would think the restaurant would have the common sense to include an extra chile, considering the small portion they served. We expressed our dissatisfaction to both the server and the waiter, but no one offered to resolve the issue, nor did they suggest removing the untouched plate or providing a different dish or a refund. We are truly disappointed with the service this time, especially since this restaurant is one of our family favorites, and we often celebrate special occasions there. Additionally, we usually spend over $250 and leave generous tips. We sincerely hope they can improve their service in the future!

We have been coming here to eat for years. The food has not been commercialized and still remains authentic Oaxaqueña food. Our favorites from the menu are Molcajetes with the three meats plus the shrimp, the Taco de Abuela with three meats and the Tlayuda with three meats. Warning, it’s a lot of food. The 2nd image below is the regular Molcajete. The chips an mole 4th image; are an excellent appetizer, it has a sweet taste with a minor kick. The mezcal margarita has been a game a changer, in a previous sitting the restaurant was working on their liquor license and well, it was worth the effort. Lastly the horchata is a must try, coming with pecan nuts and sherbet ice cream it leaves a refreshing tastes, don’t forget to stir the drink though. We have had rude customer service but not enough to dock them down a full star. Hope you enjoy this place.

As a 100% mexican i know that, for the most part, one can only understand real mexican food having lived in Mexico. Then there are the regions. Oaxaca is known among mexicans for its exquisitr and diverse foods. Expresion Oaxaquena is definitely the kind of hole in the wall place that delivers what one goes there for: Great, authentic food from Oaxaca. Late hours and friendly customer service (don't expect super fast, ok? It ain't fast food!), round up a nice, casual, yet delicious gastronomic urban experience, in the heart of Los Angeles. I ordered Botana Oaxaquena. A super sampler of the most sought after flavors that Oaxaxa offers.

The best part of this place is the medicore food and the music, the service not so much. It took an hour to get the food that you orderd and when it gets to your table its COLD. The torillas were half cooked. When i ordered food, on the menu it said that the dish came with a side of rice and beans. After an hour of waiting i got the main meal, but i didnt get the rice or beans until after asking for them. Although the service was pretty terrible the food was fine, the music was excellent. The person performing was making the beats fo the songs on the spot. Other than that i dont recommend you coming because the service is trash, the food is 5/10 and the parking situation is not the best. I recommend takeout from this...
