We stayed in LA for just 3 nights but we were delighted with our choice of the Friendship Motor Inn and our experience with the manager (unfortunately I did not get his name). My 4 star rating is directly attributed to his great customer service as I believe customer service is fundamental in any hotel, or business experience for that matter. The manager made check in simple and was always happy to give us information on LA, tell us stories, and generally help out. He seemed to work 247, he'd be at breakfast in the morning (breakfast was fairly good, not a great selection but enough to keep you going) and we'd then even see him doing laundry in the late evening!|Other than the customer service, the room was nice, we were on the second floor, we didn't drive but there appeared to be plenty of parking. The heater was good and we had a microwave and fridge amongst a comfortable bed and other good amenities including good TV channels.|It is situated in an okay part of LA, and the transport to and from the motel via the Metro was good enough (there are some stops nearby). Unfortunately, there aren't many grocery stores in the vicinity, and the nearest fast food chains are about a 10+ minute walk away.|Housekeeping was good and overall we enjoyed our stay. The only issue was probably the location, but if you have a car then I don't see anything wrong...
Read moreour rooms were nice and cool, and the TV selection was great for me. The bed was also nice and comfortable. They offer breakfast, which is some coffee, orange juice, danishes, and different cereals. This was perfect for us, we didn't want to spend a lot of money eating out and it was included with our stay.
This place is very clean and safe and has reasonable pricing for staying in Los Angeles. The owner, or at least I'm assuming he is, was very nice and polite. We arrived at 10 pm when another huge family was arriving, trying to park their cars. The owner was trying to help direct them and us, which was nice because we were unsure what the other family was doing.
I've heard of Crenshaw being a bad neighborhood, however I did not have a bad stay here. Really, there's no problem being in this neighborhood unless you make one.
Checking in was an easy process, and he showed us to our room. As as I was getting stuff from our car, the same family trying to park left a ton of bags in the middle of the parking lot. They literally left the bags unattended. I walked back and it seemed like one of the family members was upset about something and was arguing with owner. The owner was calm and apologized for whatever the issue was. But seriously people, don't leave any bags unattended anywhere, that's not the staffs fault if you...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay at the Friendship Motor Inn. This is my second visit after several years. The staff are friendly and engaging. The rate was accessible, and the location was helpful for exploring some northern parts of LA. My room was worn, with a stained carpet, the residual odor of smoking, the odor of trying to cover the odor with “freshener”. There were signs of maintenance and renovation in the room and adjacent walkways, a good sign. Painting and gaps where new fixtures had arrived. There was a fridge and microwave. The heater is in the bathroom area but did warm the entire room. My room could have used some wall repairs, fist-sized hole in wall, and more attention to hygiene on the bathroom walls near the toilet. I would probably stay here again in a few years, just to see if they caught up in the maintenance...
