We eat sushi at least once a week and wanted to try somewhere new outside our standard haunts. We were sorry we did. First, there was a horrific sewer smell when you entered the restaurant. At that point my husband and I questioned if we should be seated, but since we drove a distance to dine and had reservations, we checked in. We ordered basic Japanese dishes - edamame, miso soup and a few sushi pieces to try to decide if we would stay. The ginger and wasabi were served on the table prior to the delivery of food. The ginger was brown and hard, certainly not fresh. And that was just the beginning. The miso soup and garlic edamame were inedible. (The photo is what the edamame was drowning in). The edamame was severely undercooked, and therefore difficult to eat. The miso soup had a strange flavor. The hand roll seaweed was gooey, not crisp, and not wrapped properly so the majority of the spicy tuna landed on the floor. The other pieces of sushi were just ok. We made reservations at our favorite standby and left. We’re not sure how this restaurant has the good reviews that it has. We could just assume that it was a one-off experience. But given the lack of cleanliness (the menu had stains all over it), the rank smell of the place, the lack of freshness of the fish, and the server who couldn’t pronounce the various types of sushi, we determined that this restaurant just didn’t meet our expectations for a good sushi dining experience even though it may satisfy other diners’ expectations.

Absolutely delicious and staff was so friendly! I ordered the Brussels sprouts per their recommendation (yum). Toro Tartar on Spoon which was delightfully tangy. Soft shell crab was so good and the sauce it came with was perfect for it. I ordered their 6 piece Kaiju and Premium sushi, which were all mouthwatering and fresh. Their Mango Tango Roll was honestly kinda messy, but the mango combined with the grape tomatoes, avocado, salmon and yuzu mayo went surprisingly well together and I enjoyed it very much. For dessert, we had the Cappuccino Macaron Ice-cream and the Lychee Sorbet. I liked both but enjoyed the Sorbet more, it was very refreshing. Highly recommend with restaurant!

I finally found a legit Japanese Fish restaurant in the San Fernando Valley after Maya sushi changed its ownership. The quality of fish is incredibly stellar and the taste is superb. The rich flavor of the salmon the the crisp flavor of the yellowtail and the sweetness of the Sweet Shrimp is memorable. The fact that the chef fries the head of the sweet shrimp is wonderful. Paying more for the prime selection of the sashimi is definitely worth the price. The thickness of the fish is spot on and their fried food items are tasty.

Kaiju is a little smaller than we thought but it has a pretty good vibe, especially when you reserve. Make sure to RESERVE, it's a whole lot quicker. But also expect reservation may delay because Kaiju was understaff when we went. The place would've been rated as a 1-star if the service experience didn't get any better. We had to wait for bit because there wasn't a table available yet (though we reserved, somehow no other customers didn't want to leave). But when it did, the wait staff did a quick job in cleaning and getting the table ready. 📢📢📢Shout out to our waitress!! Hands down to Diana👑; she held down the fort and made atmosphere exceptionally great and fun. 🍣Sushi (Eel & Toro/Tuna Belly) were thick pieces on rice. So Yummy! 🍣Highly recommend the Scallop Dynamite it was the bomb. But one has to remember to mix it first to really get the goodness of appetizer. 🍣Mango Tango Roll was alright... Mango wasn't sweet enough & 🥭🍅 combination made it a little too wet. Overall, food was like any other sushi restaurant. The ambience was not bad but got better because of Diana, who didn't forget us at all. 🅿️It's in a neighborhood that street parking needs permits. There's metered street parking too, remember after 8pm no need to pay. There is valet at back and through an alleyway one can reach Kaiju. The valet came in around 9:30pm-10pm to return the key (FYI, $5...

I was there last night and for the second time i ordered a crunchy roll and for the second time they forgot the crunchys on the roll! Then when i pointed it out the first time one of the girl servers argued and said that its the same as a California roll! It is but there are differences! I said i know my rolls and she finally took it back and he added the crunchys to it! The service is terrible! The only good person there was the bartender last night who was on top of things! They dont know how to make food correctly and they forget to refil your drinks! Terrible service... i dont think i will return due to other sushi places being 10 times better!! The cooks and servers are lazy! Know ur food and how to make them.. would...
