UDATE: Since the pandemic they pretty much had stopped being a restaurant, on top of being a great coffee spot and the best seafood place in LA (in my opinion). I can't tell you how much I miss all the amazing food I used to get there, including, of course, my favorite clam chowder ANYWHERE. But now, they are serving really incredible hand rolls for lunch and dinner four or five days a week (I can't remember exactly) But all I can say after scarfing down about 9 of their amazing hand rolls is: move over Kazu Nori. For $32 you get 6 delicious hand rolls. An incredible deal for the quality of the seafood.
Great fresh fish that's dry aged. I had the Black Cod with the Kale and Potatoes, which was excellent. But the "Clam Chowder" is the best I've had and I'm from New England, the heart of Chowder country, Cape Cod to be specific. This is the chowder I would make if i was a gourmet chef. I know a lot of people like a thick chowder with lots of potatoes, I'm not one of them. I think it takes away from that incredible clam flavor. They make it with a light broth, a touch of dairy, leeks, and about 20 whole clams. NO POTATOES. I can't tell you how hard it is to find a chowder with no potatoes, let alone no flour added to increase the thickness. I can't wait to go back to get this chowder. I ended the meal with a delicious homemade cookie and cold brewed oat milk latte. I'm really looking forward to trying their calamari, fish tacos, lobster roll, and oysters on the half shell. I might just have to go back tomorrow. So, I've been back a few times now and everything I've had is really amazing. I bought a lb. of their house smoked salmon to bring to a Super Bowl Party (Another great Pats win) and heated it at 360 for 5 minutes, like they told me to, and it was fantastic. I've also had their lobster rolls, which were very good, and the grilled shrimp which was excellent, and also the crudo, which was great, but the outstanding dish here, above all else, is the scallops. I can't wait to go back for them. This is now my go to seafood place. Everything I've had is worth...
Read moreI just came across this amazing fish market/restaraunt that is relatively new and couldn't leave without posting something about it. Sadly, I didnt think about taking any pictures when I started off with the oysters, but they were phenomenal! Freshly shucked and delicous, it started me off with a small idea of the flavor this place can provide. I came with my girlfriend and her father because we were craving seafood and couldn't have come to a better place. If you are in the area and want clean and fresh seafood, this is probably the best option available! Walking in you see a display case of some of their produce which includes fresh wild caught fish, dry-aged fish, mussels, shellfish, and some cooks preparing meals right there behind the cases. Allow for a reasonable preparation time because.. IT WILL BE WORTH IT. I don't mind a little wait if it ensures freshness. I also have an appreciation for places that specialize in what they do because it shows they arent trying to please everyone, only the people who come for quality seafood. You'll see in their menus pretty much all the information you would need before ordering, and their staff are always ready to help or explain anything else you're wondering. Apart from their amazing produce (origins listed on menu,) you also have a choice of great drinks starting from fresh teas and coffees to great quality sakes, wines, and beer. I would go for a Junmai Daiginjo for the cleanest pairing. I personally love sake with fish.
Whether you come by early for coffee, after a workout for healthy nourishment, or with friends for a nice meal and drinks, this place will leave you satisfied with what you spent. The prices are extremely just for what they provide, and the quality itself is enough for me to come back regularly. 5...
Read moreI came in here today to try some of that DRY AGED FISH. Last time, I got the black cod with potatoes and kale. Today's special was grilled fish over salad, and my choice of dry aged fish was ora salmon, sea bass, and John Dory. Had this along with the Brown Sugar Iced Latte.
Wow. Dry aged fish was great. A great fish taste that is rich and oily (in a good way). Not fishy at all. This seafood restaurant is on point. And the latte was great as well. I was just as equally pleased this time around. It's hard to believe that not too many restaurants offer Dry aged fish, as The Joint is one of few in the US. I have a feeling that if this becomes popular, we will see more restaurants offering dry aged fish.
I would highly recommend this place, especially if you are a seafood connoisseur. It's fresh, tasty, and well-executed seafood at its best done by a passionate owner and chef. You can tell how much he loves his craft. Another plus is that the ambience here is nice too, a great place to have coffee and hangout.
Today, I shot a Youtube video of The Joint Eatery for my channel called Rockstar Eater, if you are interested in checking out my live...
