I love Sushi! That being said, love is not the affection I have for New Light & Healthy Sushi. The aesthetics of the food was on point. The dissatisfaction came with the quality. The clams were chewy and sandy. The fresh water eel roll has a sauce that tastes like maple syrup. Much sweeter than the traditional savory/sweet sauce used on eel rolls. The Spider roll has soft shell crab which upon my first bite had a very sour shellfish flavor. The Fried Rice roll with spicy tuna and avocado was delicious. Though "avocado" was an accent color more than anything. The Sake in a baby blue bottle is definitely a good thing. The service was very friendly and cleanliness is a 7/10. So, after 1 regular roll, 2 specialty rolls, 1 appetizer, a large Asahi beer, and Sake the cost was less than $60. I would suggest you keep your expectations on the idle and still give this place a try. Just stay away from muscles and soft shell crab. Enjoy!

Good quality sushi at a decent price. Their menu selection is good too. You only get one hour for the all you can eat option, which IMO is not enough time, especially if place is crowded and the way service is. The sushi chefs are friendly, but when you order, it takes a while to get your food. They walk away or start talking to each other, our chef even started preparing food for other guest and we had ordered first. Overall okay experience, if they improve their service, this place would really be a great spot IMO. Parking available right next door to the business.

This small mom and pops sushi spot is truly a gem! Me and my husband found this sushi restaurant driving by on Valentine’s Day and decided to give it a try. We were definitely not disappointed and loved everything. Our chef was Justin and he is truly an amazing chef I wish I could give him 10 stars because he knew exactly what he was doing I kept asking for chefs choice and everything he brought us was so delicious. We will now be regulars

Never a dull experience at Light & Healthy Sushi. I highly recommend any and all sushi lovers to try Light & Healthy!

This spot has been around since the 80s (rightfully so) and is my go to AYCE sushi spot. I live in Van Nuys and choose to drive over here to enjoy the fresh, delicious sushi and great customer service, even though there are other sushi spots near my home (including Midori).

Located on Ventura Blvd. just west of Corbin Ave., Light & Healthy has a private parking lot with ample parking space, and additional street parking available as well. The restaurant is pretty large with about 20 seats at the sushi bar and several booths/tables in the dining area. AYCE is only available at the bar, costing $25.95 during lunch hours and $29.95 during dinner. AYCE and a la carte menu prices are relatively comparable to most sushi restaurants. The bar area also has 3 TVs that usually play the relevant sporting or entertainment events going on at the time.

There are usually 3 chefs manning the sushi bar. One of the things I enjoy most is the level of hospitality and personalization the crew provides every time I visit Light & Healthy. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome as if you were their favorite customer. The chefs actually talk and interact with you, building rapport, offering recommendations and insight on the menu. A few times I have been offered off-the-menu items that the chefs were creating using their own recipe (ask Chef Justin for his Spicy Scallop Special hand roll!). I have had the pleasure of being served by most, if not all, the chefs there (Brian, Henry, Justin and Lee who is actually the owner) and have always had a great experience. Their sushi is fresh and portions are very generous. I always pair my sushi with the green mussels and quail egg shooters. Perfect way to start and end my AYCE experience!

Of course when doing AYCE you may have to wait as the chefs are also catering to the a la carte crowd as well as other ACYE customers at the bar, but I have never had an unreasonable wait or delay during my meal here. I'll always choose Light & Healthy to fulfill my AYCE...

I went there for the first time with a female friend and made us wait for 45 mins to sit, only one chef available and he already had 9 people serving at the bar, the wait was understandable; however after waiting, they sat us with the same chef when there were 2 other chefs arriving; they sat 3 with one new chef and 5 with the other new chef, AND 6 more with the first chef that was going to assist us, in addition the first chef was also preparing the to-go orders and the orders for the tables. We had to wait almost 8 to 11 mins between each of our own orders, and every time we would try to place a double order so we would have something to eat while the chef was busy the chef replied “Just wait, you have to wait” and would only prepare 1 and forget the 2nd order, we had at least 4 spaces of time of waiting with NO food, if you eat sushi you know each order comes with 4 pieces of sushi per person, well, HERE they only provide 2 pieces per person, NOT worth the All you can eat if you have to wait long to re order. At the last order at the exact 1 hr I advised it would be our last order, me being considered of the time stipulated, the chef said to my female friend “You are still hungry?” I just looked at him and stood quiet, he nervously giggled and turned around to prepare the sushi. I am very respectful and did not appreciate at all the service at this location nor the comments. I spent a total of $87.00 and definitely will...

Cute places I passed one day and decided to take my family there for a birthday. Full regrets. It wasn't even busy, besides us (party of 5), there was another couple and then later on one other couple.

The rolls were decent. Nothing horrible, but nothing too flavorful, either. All their rolls were pretty repetitive when I asked for a "custom roll" because they didn't have a single roll with the fish we wanted they were very adamant of "we wouldn't normally do something like this"...so how would we get a roll with this fish? Besides all that trying to order rolls was so hard, we spent almost 300 dollars there, and we were barely able to get 8 rolls before the check was dropped. If it was because of the time limit, well, if the sushi chef wasn't in the kitchen talking to the server or completely disregarding us the entire time, maybe we would've been able to order faster. Or if he didn't make an exasperated face each time more than one roll was ordered, I would've just given the list.

I still left a tip, and normally, it would've been at least 20%, but they were really not worth even a tip. Definitely gave them more cash than deserved, especially for THAT kind of service on a dead monday late afternoon. Definitely will not be going back. Regretfully, I took my family for a birthday. Maybe their normal staff is better trained but definitely wouldn't recommend on Mondays...
