Picked up an tasty dinner here: nopalitos (salad of diced cactus, tomatoes, white onion, cilantro and lime juice), memelas and barbequed goat tacos. Both the memelas and the house-made tortillas used to wrap the sizeable tacos had that special, mouth-watering aroma and wonderful texture that only freshly made masa dough can have. The salsas were tasty and enhanced each dish. The tacos came with extra barbacoa sauce, too, which made them extra yummy (and messy!).

Having both celiac disease and food allergies, I needed and received authoritative and friendly help with the menu. I did not get sick and for that I'm very appreciative. (Tip: if you can't eat wheat you must avoid the asciento (lard paste) on the memelas.)

I wish they would have allowed the memelas' string cheese to be packed on the side so my partner could have enjoyed it on his portion, but the restaurant policy is either cheese on all three memelas or on none, and no packing it on the side.

All the dishes were satisfying. It was a lot of food but we were quite hungry and manage to eat it all, along with the little bag of chips that was included.

I was also happy that the restaurant didn't automatically include utensils and napkins, which we all simply throw away most of the...

I asked if I was able to substitute something on my entree — the waiter said it was fine and implied it was normal to do. But when I received the check, I was charged an extra 20% of the entree. This wasn’t mentioned by the waiter. Granted, $1-2 extra would have been ok. But it wasn’t the case. No notice ahead of time, no information on the menu. When I told the waiter that he didn’t inform me and it wasn’t stated on the menu, the response was “sorry that’s what we do.” Staff had the power to correct it but did not. I would have made a different decision had I known the outcome. The prices are already high and I didn’t expect to pay 20% more of that price for the entree, I would have picked something else. The staff are generally nice but this left a bad taste regarding customer service.

No frills, very simple, consistent, but not mind blowing. Nice to try once. Pricey, like any other restaurant in LA. Been here a few times but likely will not return due to this...

This new family owned business popped up around the upcoming restaurant scene in the mar vista area and my colleagues and I have been talking about giving it a try and we finally did.

I would agree to every review that has been written here by fellow yelpers about the food and service. The people here are extremely sweet and it's not only 5 star food but also service. They make sure you are well taken care of with your questions about the menu and also got enough to eat.

I ordered Barbacoa de Chivo, soupy dish cooked with tender goat meat. The meat was cooked to perfection and it just falls off the bone while the soup was utterly delicious. It is served with a hand made corn tortilla and the tortillas are super soft.

For the great food and service, I am coming back...

Located right on Venice Boulevard which is crowded with many Mexican restaurants, this one is a find! It has Oaxacan comfort food in a comfortable vibe. We went in for dinner and ordered Vegetarian Enchilada and Quesadillas Fritas and both were mouth-watering! The sauces in both the dishes were delicious (tomatillo, avocado sauce and black bean sauce) so was the Oaxacan cheese! The service was fast, and we were greeted with fresh house-made chips and salsa! There are plenty of seating options - outdoors by the road, a cute patio at the back and a comfy, decorated indoor space! There is street parking around the whole block. Would definitely revisit! Added: One year later and this place is as good as ever!!

Great place for Mexican, specifically Oaxacan cuisine. The servers were amazing and they have just added Tepache, a fermented pineapple drink, to their menu that's a must-try. Had the Barbacoa de Chivo, a barbequed goat in rich, flavorful soup. It tasted amazing. Just be warned that you should only order this if you are looking for a hearty soup. My wife ordered a mix plate of different barbecued meats and that was really good too. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere at the patio is not upscale but nice. Interior is a little plain but looks like they are trying to work on it slowly.

Came here since it was the only place without a wait and had great ratings online. I have to say that after ordering their "most popular mole" that this Mexican restaurant is extremely underwhelming and the flavor is really bland. I'm not sure why it's so highly rated, because this is no where close to the best or most authentic mole I've had. This place is also very expensive; for example, a shot is $12 when it's just a hole in the wall diner. The only reason it's not 1 star is because the service is good. I do not recommend it and I will not come back. Expect to pay $30-40 per person.
