Restaurants El Gordo is a small hole in the wall restaurant in a small shopping center with small parking lot that's gets packed with car because others businesses in the shopping center. A friend of my recommend to try Restaurant El Gordo the food is incredible good but owners is very friendly and greet you at the door. The restaurant is small and the owner told down please order we told me we like order our food to go. One of his cooks ask us what we like to order my wife order carne asada burrito and I order the chile relleno plate.

They people in the restaurant enjoy the food at the restaurant. Our food was ready and then we left the restaurant. When we go home I open my chile relleno and took a bite the chile relleno was really with so much flavors in the chile relleno with so much cheese that makes the inside chile relleno very cheesy. After moving to LA for 10 years I became half Mexican living off of tortillas and frijoles.

And with time my expectations go higher and higher and now I can tell what's good Mexican food and what is so so.

El Gordo met with my expectations with the Huegos Ranchero I was looking forward to. Eggs are on point with half cooked yolks. The rice and beans taste fresh and I like that rice is not heavily seasoned.

I wish it was at a more inviting plaza strip but hey what do you expect in Boyle Heights?
