I came here for the soup, didnt read the reviews to know it was a taco spot.. but i really wanted a soup so we tried out the restaurant. I like the decor, but once you go in, i was confused.. didnt know it was a diner. So i asked the gentleman if they had soup, they did. I saw a pic online of a burrito so i got me a burrito from the picture. My fiancé got nachos. We got 2 lemonades and a crush. The mushroom soup was decent. [Would have been better with a bread on the side] size was.. decent. 1 inch deep in the bowl. Salty to my taste but ok. The crawfish burrito. 😑 its what it says. Crawfish.. burrito. Atleast fill it up with a bit more rice and beans. It was more tortilla than anything!!! The taste was ok. Tastes like butter with a bunch of seasonings.. tortilla had seasonings too. That was different! But.. not worth trying it again. Lemonade was too sweet for me :/ my fiancé's face when he saw the nachos 😂 only then i realized what happened. WE SPENT 80 DOLLARS.. 80 DOLLARS!!!!!!!! Soup:$15 crawfish burrito: $25 nachos:close to 20 lemonades in small mason jars:$6 each. Crush soda:$2 plus taxes 😂🤣 lesson learned : look at the pics .. look at reviews. Go on IG and if all you see is the company posting their food =red flag baby! I know this might sound harsh, and sorry for those that love skys. I hope you keep going to keep the business going, and a female owners dream alive. I know prices, competition etc. But daang. 25 for a burrito? 25?!?!? 20 for nachos? That are half plate? 😩 lorrd have mercy. I have NEVER been so dissapointed in myself. I am so traumatized that now i look at prices and peoples plates around me 😞😞 i wasnt sure to post or not but a week later and im still dissapointed! If you are looking for a breakfast burrito and dont mind the drive, try Antojitos in Burbank. The has brown is crispy. For regular Burritos: taco truck on Vernon and Figueroa where the ross is at. Trust me.. 10 bucks and theyre worth the drive. Soups: might come back to try something different [maybe its less salty] or i might just stick to Marie Calendars, Panera or Neptunes for their chowder. Redondo Beach pier has good chowder too. Cool thing i saw here, "All Gender" Bathroom 🙂 thought that was...
Read moreI just don't understand. Almost everything about this just puzzles me.
Firstly, it's very easy to miss this place during the day. At night the sign lights up and it's noticeable, but during the day I happened to notice their sign outside and the small door in front that led into the place. Very small almost cramped interior with uncomfortable seating. The wait staff was pretty friendly though, which was a bit of a relief.
First to come out almost immediately were the chips and guac. The chips were definitely over-fried, very hard and unpleasant bite. Maybe it's just me, but there was an offputting sweetness to the guac that did not click well. Guac is supposed to taste beautifully like mashed but a little chunky avocado with a dash of chili spice and a lime kick, maybe diced tomatoes. Instead I got this ball of what seemed to be blended avocado with some sugar, palate couldn't pick up much more than that.
My burrito came unwrapped. Never seen that before. Almost positive it never happens, in fact almost positive it's considered a taco if its unwrapped. What's more, there was so much filling that it was impossible to wrap it without everything falling out and making a mess! It's almost as if they shrugged it off to let the customer deal with it.
Speaking of filling, though, usually a lot of filling is a good thing. The chicken was actually cooked quite tenderly, very juicy with a nice flavor. It's a shame it was underneath the mess that came on top. Lettuce, tomato, american cheese, and sour cream that was ALSO sweet and honestly had a strange thick texture, unlike the creamy spreadable sour cream that is common.
The saving grace, I must say, was the mango cheesecake. God I love mango, and so pleased to see this done well. I would come back just for that, but not much else. Overall, service is great, mango cheesecake is on par, but not thrilled about their...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sky Gourmet Tacos, a delightful Black female-owned establishment that truly exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the inviting outdoor seating area that boasted a cozy living room atmosphere - the perfect setting for a relaxing meal.
One dish that truly stood out to me was the Shrimp Tacos with crunchy hard shell and cheese. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, with perfectly cooked shrimp nestled in a crispy shell and topped with gooey melted cheese. The combination was simply divine, and I found myself savoring every bite.
What impressed me even more was the reasonable pricing at Sky Gourmet Tacos. Despite the high quality of the food and the charming ambiance, I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was. It's rare to find such a gem that offers not only delicious food but also great value for your money.
Overall, my experience at Sky Gourmet Tacos was nothing short of exceptional. The warm and welcoming outdoor seating, coupled with the scrumptious Shrimp Tacos and reasonable prices, make this place a true standout in the culinary scene.
