Well, I happen to stay at this motel due to an emergency where a room was found for me at the last minute. The area was not the best but I did walk to the 7/11 two blocks away at 1am without any issues or safety concerns. The room it's self was a big surprise as to how nice it was compared to the outside. It was quite clean and had a nice big bed and a large updated bathroom with tub and up high rain type shower head. The ceiling of the bedroom had Hawaiian themed painted pictures of flowers and a hula dancer in the corners. There was also supresed black lighting over the bed which was nice so I didn't have to use the bright regular lights of the room. The walls of the room was very thin and I coulde hear EVERYTHING in all rooms around me! Let's just say it seems to be a place where people like to go for adult fun. Not a place for families, children, or people who don't like to hear that kind of stuff. The management at the front were not friendly or helpful or even tried at all. I was there for 8 days and they never once asked to clean the room or if I needed clean towels. I went up to the front to ask for two more plastic cups and the person was extremely rude asking what room I was in and did not want to give out any more cups. After showing my room key I had two cup actually thrown at me in discust! I never returned to the front after that just so I wouldn't have to deal with such disrespectful behavior again. I have stayed in many different motel all over the LA area, very expensive to extremely cheap, none of them have ever thrown anything at me or acted like I was less than human...and my stay was pre-paid. To sum it up, if you don't really care how you are treated by people that are in the hospitality industry that received 8 days of payment in full the day you checked-in at a motel in a not so good area with decent rooms that you can hear all of the action going on in every room next to yours, than this place is for you! I am thankful that I actually had a room those nights because I would have been outside in the rain if not for the help I received. It...
Read moreSo looking at this street view, it appears that whoever owns this motel has replaced the old neon sign out front. That's too bad, because this horrible motel was a treat to drive by on my way home. I told my wife we had to stay there and see what it was like, she agreed.
First off, I had to put down a deposit for the TV remote, as if I wanted a remote to a CRT television in 2011. We get to the room and there's a cleaning lady in there and she's just finishing up. She's sprayed so much air freshener in there we had to stand outside for a bit as it cleared out. The other user who mentioned the mirrors? They're not joking. 45 degrees up in the corner of the ceiling at the foot of the bed sort of mirrors. This place is meant for you to enjoy watching yourself bang. Big time. Totally hilarious. Not disappointed. I've stopped into so many motels that looked weird on the outside only to be bland renovated cookie cutter rooms on the inside. We were glad to find a place that embraced some sort of thing, even if it was sleaze.
Also, there were only three channels on my television despite there being a card on the night stand that listed about 50 standard cable channels. The three channels in order were: porn, PBS, porn.
In the morning I went to take a shower and found a sliver of soap stuck in the drain. I died laughing. What a place.
I take away a star for general lack of cleanliness and another for changing the old neon out front....
Read moreWe stayed at this Hotel for 5 nights. Found the hotel to be very dated. This was the first thing we noticed. Second thing was that it took the bellboys 40 mins to get our bags to the rooms travelling a distance which took us 5 mins. ||Pros: Location||Cons: Uncomfortable Beds, Very Old Hotel with a Tiny pool, Service was very average, breakfast service was pool and the food quality was just average. ||Problems: You have to pay $50 per set of sun beds which was very odd for me given that we were at a " beach resort ". On top of that it is practically impossible to get a booking even on a paid basis because rather than have people come and go as they please on the sun beds ( generally one can't bake in the sun for more than 2-3 hours) , because people pay $50 they have the beds for the entire day and there are not enough beds for everyone specially because the sheraton guests are there as well! This seems to be the norm on Waikiki beach which was absurd to me! ||In summary this hotel has allot of hype around it because of it is one of the original hotels on Waikiki but I would not recommend this Hotel as a 5 star hotel. Not by international standards anyway. The critics have got this one wrong or looked the other way!!||Only stay here if you are paying %30-40 less than the other 5 star options. Otherwise try your luck...
