I love coming to this place for many reasons. But one of them is the food and also close to where I work. It's a hole in the wall place. Enough parking spaces, tables and chairs. One thing for sure is that lunch hour gets really busy, so if you have limited time I suggest you call ahead of time to get your order in and pay as soon as you arrive. It has saved me a lot of time doing this. Staff is always great, hard working cooks and cashiers. Heads up if you are paying with a debit or credit card, they do charge about 50 cents if you pay with card.
Food: It is always good in my opinion. I have selected different plates and all are good. However, what I definitely suggest is the birria (chivo and res) and the caldo de res. Very delicious broths and hearty. You will definitely be full after you eat this and be put into a food coma.
The picture below is the caldo de res. It comes with rice, handmade tortillas and a side of onions and cilantro. Now the broth contains carrots, potato, chayote (mirliton squash), cabbage and of course beef. Delicious if you are feeling sick or want something to eat that is nice and hot during the cold. This is...
Read moreI ordered a few things here, and I can say the food here is phenomenal! The star of the show in my eyes is the Cubana torta. This thing is stacked, tender, chewy chorizo, crispy, and certainly fresh! It brings together a lot of the best aspects this place has to offer. It made me a fan for sure. Next up, the mole: soft and juicy. Perfectly cooked to stay on the bone yet easy to separate. Well made sauce, not watery at all. It could however use a bit more chocolate, this is more on the spiced side. Finally, the carnitas tacos. The tortillas used here are deliciously handmade chewy and the carnitas itself are crisped perfectly.
Be careful with the red hot sauce. A little dab will do ya; it's that hot spicy that you'll regret the next morning if you eat too much. I LOVE IT! Even more so than my usual go-to habanero sauces.
Side note: Try the coconut flan!
Cons: Some items are day specific. Not many customization options. The person at the counter couldn’t make exceptions to the menu. There is nothing in the menu I could find that is different from other places, they could use a house special item or few to really emphasize...
Read moreI'm shocked at all the 5 star reviews. I rarely leave reviews, especially for restaurants, but I felt the need to write how awful the food was. I ordered $80 worth of food for 4 adults. The food was absolutely terrible--lengua had zero taste, birria had NO SAUCE and was super dry, the asada and pastor both had little or no seasoning. The tortilla they used in EXTREMELY THICK. So every bite was just tasteless and dry meat with a chunk of thick tortilla. My chili verde enchiladas were just a few pieces of chicken wrapped in a layers of tortilla. I couldn't even a third of it cause all I was eating was tortilla. All 4 of us were extremely disappointed in both taste and quality--and trust me when I say we are NOT picky eaters. This place was absolutely awful. Will not be...
