Tony's #1 Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Driving up Balboa Boulevard at about 3 p.m. today, I realized I hadn't had lunch, so I pulled into this familiar strip mall. I saw Tony's Mexican restaurants storefront, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't very busy and there was no one at the counter so I walked up to the counter to place a an order for a dinner plate. I must have waited about five minutes while the counter person was clearly doing things in front of me without even glancing at me, I tried to get her attention but to no avail. She eventually came to the counter with a pad and pencil and I smiled at her and said are you having a good day? And she looked at me with a scowl, I then said are you happy? She took a deep breath and exclaimed harshly to me "what?" At that point I decided I should not eat in such a hostile environment turned around and walked out. When I was back in my car I looked at the restaurant and called it to speak to the manager I believe the counter person answered the phone , I asked if she was a person who just waited on me the man with the white shirt she said yes and then hung up on me . As far as rating the restaurant on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best: Atomospher 1 Cleanliness 2 Customer service 0. Obviously, I won't be back and would not recommend...

I had a job in this area today and once i got hungry, i stop at a Golden M in the same shopping center, one I saw this Mexican Restaurant, I wanted to try, couple of good things and a couple of bad and really bad. I order 2 tacos chorizo and eggs.

GOOD. Thank you for making me tacos de chorizo, IS NOT ON THEIR MENU, BUT THEY MADE THEM FOR ME.

food was good, good portion, got chips and salsa

BAD. Señora she has a bad attitude, she was rude to people in front of me, I THINK SHE GOT FUSTRATED CAUSE SHE DONT SPEAK ENGLISH AND PEOPLE ORDERING SPOKE NO SPANISH, so she waen't understanding, whe I order she was rude, NO service manners,( may I help you or thank you after)

Tacos were good, but i was never told they put lettuce,jalapeños,onions cilantro, this are chorizo not asada tacos

Came here to get something for my wife to eat. She got the steak sandwich with fries and a Medium Horchata. The Horchata wasn't cold, borderline room temperature and the taste was a little off putting. From what she said about the steak sandwich it is juicy and flavorful. There were some parts of the steak that were a bit tough to chew but overall it was good. The fries were well done and tasted good. The salsa and chips were decent. The salsa was a bit watery for my taste but it did pass the spicy test. Overall it was good, she does say she wouldn't order the same thing again, probably try something else and see how that turns out. All in all it was $14.38. Not too bad, will probably come back in if we're in the neighborhood and hungry for...
