Van Leeuwen has always been one of my favorite ice cream brands, but now theyāre my #1 (donāt tell Jeniās hehe). I came here on a weekday afternoon and I had the whole shop to myself! Itās a cute little store, with pops of yellow that make you feel even more happy about the ice cream youāre going to get. The employee working was extremely friendly, and he even let me sit and enjoy my ice cream inside.
Every time I come to a Van Leeuwen location I like to try something new. This time I decided to try 2 of their current seasonal flavors: Planet Earth (vegan) + carrot cake donut. Both were beyond delicious!! They were probably the best ice cream flavors I have ever had, and Iāve had a lot of ice cream. I was in heaven while eating them and I was sad when they were gone š„². 12/10 highly recommend these flavors!!! Love that they have a wide variety of vegan + non-vegan flavors, and the vegan ice creams donāt even taste like they are veganāthey are soooo good.
Parking: parking is free, but the lot is suuuuper tiny so finding a spot might be hard (the location is next to a Silverlake Ramen). Overall I was very happy with my experience here and I canāt wait to come back for more! Treating myself has never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, I can say that I won't go here with any intention, purely based off service. I did get to try the ice cream, which was tasty, but the service was well below average.
Why? Well, after dishing up my ice cream, I was told it's card only. But, If I wanted to pay cash I could, just wouldn't receive any change. So, that would have been fine amd I gladly would have left a substantial tip...EXCEPT, when i asked for a milkshake he grunted, paused, and responded by asking me if really wanted a milkshake. Agter working the food industry for 10 years, I understand milkshakes aren't a favorite thing to make. But, I certainly won't tip you $6+ to have you grunt about making a milkshake.
So, I decided to not give him or the establishment any or my money and said, "hope you have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe atmosphere of the place was unpleasant, mainly due to the staff. One employee in particular, a bald-headed white woman, made me feel very uncomfortable. She didn't smile (very dry )or greet us and had a blank stare the entire time. When I asked for a sample, she just stared at me with her crazy eyes š popping out of her eyelids (scary), making the experience very awkward. I understand that many businesses are short-staffed, but having someone so disengaged in a customer-facing role is problematic. If she doesn't enjoy her job, perhaps she should consider working elsewhere. She definitely doesn't belong in a position where she serves customers and honestly she looks like a mental patient Iām concerned for her mental health. Vegan ice...
