Horrible studio. ZERO management. You can call and email your heart out and get zero response. I took my pots here to get bisqued and it took a week. In what universe does it take a week to bisque? They don’t post when the kiln is emptied on the website (nor when its fired) and because no one EVER answers the phone or calls you back (I am not exaggerating. They NEVER EVER answer the phone or call you back or email you back), you have to drive there only to be disappointed by an empty bisque shelf. We drove from Monrovia SIX TIMES and the kiln was not unloaded. It was a joke when they feebly posted after our fifth visit that the kiln would be emptied, and get this: ‘kiln will be emptied Friday OR Monday’. This place is a joke. If you want your pots fired, if you are serious about keeping a schedule with your work, do not go here. Plus glazing is ridiculously expensive. It’s just another LA scam run by people who do not care a whit about their business or the people they serve. Too many other studios to go to these days. Don’t waste your time, and avoid being frustrated, and choose...
Read moreVery disappointed. the management and communication was awful. I contacted them 4 weeks beforehand, about questions on the membership for a personal project. Cherie, was rude, impolite, and would just put down the phone as if she did not want to bother with taking phone calls. After multiple calls i got a hold of her, but she was just plain rude. Eventually, Cherie asked to send some of my work and i waited for Cherie to give me a response... and i got nothing.
I understand wanting to take precautions so that other artists' hard work wouldn't be destroyed. knowledge of ceramics is clearly a basic necessity in order to be a member. coming from some years in ceramic experience, it makes sense. but being outright rude was out of the line. taylor, on the other hand was responsive to my emails and calls when i asked for an update, but ultimately she had to keep on asking Cherie to get back to me and of course, she did not.
i suggest looking for a different studio with people who...
Read moreI took a class and it was great but the turn around on the kiln is horrible. Like, glacial. I ran out of time to get a couple of pieces glazed because they took so long to get bisque fired. I thought they would’ve been out and ready after 4 days but no; it takes a full week to see your pieces again. I wouldn’t recommend taking a class here unless you have ample time to stop in and work on your ceramics. If you work full time, maybe reconsider. Oh, and don’t bother trying to call, because no one will pick up the phone, no matter what time of day it is. I was going to try to become a member, but I’d rather go literally...
