A Spiritual Home for the Whole Family.
My family and I have been attending this Orthodox Church, and it has become a true spiritual home for us. As parents we are especially grateful for the vibrant and welcoming community.
The church excels in its programs for all ages. We are grateful for Sunday school, which not only teaches the faith but does so in the Russian language, helping them connect with their heritage. For the adults, the choir is a beautiful and enriching part of the liturgy, and the sense of participation is profound.
What makes this parish special is its warm, family-like atmosphere. We see many people from diverse backgrounds, all coming together in faith. The fellowship after the service is a highlight—sharing a great lunchtime with fellow parishioners strengthens our bonds and feels like a weekly celebration.
Most importantly, our priest is a true shepherd. He is very helpful and provides profound guidance, whether for those who have lost their faith or for anyone searching for common sense and peace in our chaotic and unpredictable world. He makes the ancient faith feel alive and relevant.
We feel blessed to be part of this community and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a deep, family-oriented...
Read moreHoly Virgin Mary Cathedral is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful churches in Los Angeles if not all of California. As many people have already mentioned in their reviews, the church is very old, containing many old and new icons as well as a large number of relics. I only speak English but with the help of service booklets and friendly parishioners one can easily understand what is being said and happening in the services.
The parishioners are friendly and the parish as a whole is family oriented and driven, though naturally all are welcome. The kiosk bookstore and coffee shop are both excellent. The kiosk particularly has a great selection of icons and books for spiritual instruction. Father Nazari and Deacon Kirill are both great and welcoming individuals. Stop by anytime to see the church or simply...

We are one of the only few Chinese members of this parish, and we have always felt incredibly welcomed here. The people are humble, kind, and full of love. Services are conducted in English and Slavonic, and the community is very open to anyone who wants to learn more about the Orthodox faith.
If you’re curious or searching for a spiritual home, they offer catechumen classes every Tuesday evening at 7pm— everyone is welcome to join. I’m so grateful to have found this warm and...
