Vibrato Grill & Jazz is truly a hidden gem within the LA area. I have to be upfront and mention that I actually work there. I'm a server, come on in and say hello :) and I'll be more than happy to help you out, give you some cool background on the place, let you know food wise what is fresh for that day and simply show you and your guest(s) a good, fun time :) We have Live music every night (rest. is closed Mondays), live music the other six nights a week. Always a variety with the artists, and we of course bring back favorites from month to month or so. Friday & Saturday nights, one consistent thing from week to week is we'll have a duo playing from 6/630 - 830pm (typically a pianist and standup bassist so the music is soft, light and just sets a light mood) then at 9pm the listed artist goes on for that night and plays for a cple hrs or so, with a break or two mixed in. The other 4 night a week (Sun, Tues, Weds & Thurs) the listed artist plays for the entire night. Each artist is different with how many sets and their start time, typically anywhere from 6/630 - 8pm, and again they can do anywhere from 1-3 sets on average. The setting is very intimate, warm, cozy, relaxed, romantic and enjoyable. Lights are dimly lit, stage in the center, 3 levels of tables. The restaurant is multi, multi Grammy winner Herb Alpert's gift to the public. It was his idea, concept, creation and design. The restaurant has been around for 13+ years now. Yes, Herb does frequent the place, and he also plays there from time to time. Better yet his daughter, Eden Alpert, has been an active partner and employee of the place since the very beginning. Eden is very involved with the daily operations, and you can catch her any given night hosting, greeting guest, assisting the musicians, and simply making sure every night is smooth and enjoyable by all guests who walk through our front doors. We have an amazing bar area, plenty of bar stools, bar seating, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful bartenders who can assist with any particular taste, interest or specialty drink you may have in mind. Full bar, pretty much everything but blended drinks and sake. We have an awesome scotch, whiskey and tequila list. Most every popular vodka. Our wine list is a good 300+ varietals. Plenty of great Californian Cabs, chards, pinots, great old world bordeaux, italians, Australians, a really good selection. Bottles anywhere from $35/$40 up to a few $300+. We honestly have a great, large selection of bottles within the $50-$100 range that are well suitable, great quality, and will more than do the job :) Food wise, appetizers and salads from about $10-$20. Items like tuna tartare, new Zealand lamb lollipops, tomato and burrata salad, crab cakes, mussels, calamari, etc. Main course, anywhere from $20/$30 -$40/$50, plus we have an awesome side selection. Fish options, salmon, sea bass, very tasty vegan and vegetarian options. Our steaks, mmmm mmm! Bone in ribeyes, filet mignon, porterhouse plus daily steak specials, or alternative daily main course specials. Items like braised short ribs, eggplant parmesean, we have more than enough options to satisfy and appease any appetite. Make sure you save room for dessert as we have not only some extremely tasty pastry options like a molten chocolate lava cake paired with a tasty quality scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a cheesecake or tiramiso, but we also have a great selection of after dinner drinks like ports, muscato, brandy, ice wine and cognacs. Or maybe simply a cappuccino or herbal tea. The musical directors name is Pat Senatore. He has not only been with the restaurant since the very beginning, but he also was an original member of the Tijuana Brass, for those that know ;) You won't regret coming in, my name is Adrian once again, and I am there most nights. Feel free to ask for me with any questions you may have, if theirs anything I can do to help make your visit more enjoyable, or simply if you would like to say hello :) I hope to see...

Regarding my visit to Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill on Sunday, September 24th, 2023. It was clearly -distinguishable and comprehensively- visible that the level of quality control was limitless. The table cloths and napkins were clean and wrinkle free, the eating utensils were clean and spot free. The seats were clean and dry. The plates, drink glasses and cups were clean and spotless. The entertainment was dynamic. Regarding the food served, I eat a plant based food diet. (fussy eater) I am different than 97% of of those who dine at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill. I enjoy —the Fine Californian- American Dining Experience provided at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill. The menu includes flavor rich vegan food and I enjoy- the raw unprocessed foods carefully prepared, artistically presented and hand crafted by the owners- co-owners- chefs- salad chefs and all involved in the process of preparing these nutrient rich meals. The alcohol-free beverages prepared by the mixologists, at the bar, are delicious and achieve the level of nutritional excellence my body requires to perform, throughout the following day, both at work or in the gym. Regarding the service, The servers are Kind-Attentive-Knowledgeable and Thoughtful. They allow me time to plan out my meal and deliver everything I want to make my dining-experience the BEST I have EVER experienced. And I honestly mean exactly what I wrote. THE BEST. They deliver special requests and go out of their way to accommodate. Thank you for you incredible service and accommodations.

Older review: “When I think of fine dining- I Think about the Vibrato” located at the Beverly Glen Center near Mullholland Drive and Beverly Glen Boulevard. The warm accommodating Hosts and Hostesses- The servers and the knowledgeable and kind table attendants- The chef and all of the service employees and culinary experts who work their butts off to make every visit an unforgettable pleasant experience.- I wasn’t asked by ANYONE to write this review The owner “Eden Alpert”(daughter of Herb Alpert- the amazing musician- professional engineer and retired producer) has been so sweet to me and I want to take a moment of my time to write a positive review (check out the walls- ceilings and sound system - spots and can lights + the warm custom “built in the USA” elegant dining lighting-sound dampening pod lights) additionally thank you to all of the professional musicians band managers and Sound Engineers who rehearse for hours to bring together this “incredible musical dining experience.” I’ve never heard a sour note in this heavenly place.

Read moreI found out about this restaurant through Dine LA, Oct 2011. I was extremely excited to check this place out because of all the good reviews and the fact that they had live Jazz entertainment. Unfortunately, I was disappointed and here's why.
Although our waitress was very nice, she was extremely slow and disappeared most of the evening. Everything we asked for would take about 20mins+ (the check, the drinks, the entrees, the bread, and so forth). It was just painful! I would have to add that I believe she was one of two or maybe the only waitress working that Sunday night, but there were plenty of helpers nearby that would refill the water or bring our entrees. The restaurant was only maybe at their 15-20% capacity, so there's no excuse for slow service.
As for the food, it was a hit or miss on certain dishes. My friends and I almost ordered everything on the Dine LA menu and here's my take on it.
Appetizers: Chef's Soup of the Day-Mushroom Soup (There was no depth to the soup and it was over salted)
Farmer's Market Salad (Very standard and tasty, I love the extra punch that the truffle vinaigrette gave to the salad. But who doesn't love truffle oil?!)
Fingerling Potato Knish (This was the BEST appetizers out of all of them! It has the perfect crunch with the balance of the filling and the layers of smoked Salmon; you only get three piece but it's SOOO good!)
Entrees: Flat Iron Steak (BEST dish of the night....the Bordelaise Sauce with the Sauteed Mushroom was perfect in Medium Rare; You cannot go wrong with this dish if you're a meat eater! The meat was so tender and a perfect size to fill you up!)
Organic Irish Salmon (I am a salmon lover, but I don't know what in the world was up with this dish?!! I love seafood, but even for me I can smell the fish across the room. Sounds ironic, but it was a smell that was not appetizing. The fava beans that came with it just destroyed the taste of dish....it was a BIG disappointment! The only positive stuff I have to say about the dish was the Israeli Couscous, tender and bouncy.)
Dessert: Truffle Chocolate Cake with Mint Ice Cream, Chocolate Sauce (Truffle Chocolate Cake was a bit bland and dry. On the other hand, the Ice Cream was amazing)
Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Orange, Mint & Strawberry Salsa (I love Panna Cotta and this one was good, but nothing really stood out. The salsa they had was too sour. Perhaps, they should've sauteed the fruit to bring out the sugar content of it for a better balance.)
Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée with Fresh Raspberries & Blueberries (standard and tasty)
Would I come back to this place? Probably not. But let me leave off with a more positive note on this restaurant. The decor of this place is wonderful, very warm and spacious (it has two story). The live music that they had was wonderful. The drinks here go for about $15 on average, but it was worth it. I ordered the cucumber drink that came with vodka, cucumber, jalapeno, and lime juice. I would recommend this place if you're meeting a casual date at the bar for some drinks. I hope whoever reads my review and visit this place will have better luck...
