I wanted to see fireworks but I didn't want to go to any of the crowded areas like the Hollywood Bowl or Exposition Park or downtown I just wanted to see fireworks. We found this part called Runyon Canyon Park however they closed for 4th of July after 6 p.m.. if you go down a little further you'll find that there are several good areas in the Hills to see fireworks from all over the city. From there we could see everything from Exposition Park to downtown Staples Center everything all fireworks just breaking out in the dark sky for hours. Try to get there earlier because people will start to take all the standing spots...

What a little "hidden gem" for stargazing in LA! A perfect clear view of Southwest and the West. And it is also dark enough, no pole lights at the small parking, neither at the walkway. ;) The bar gate is suppose to close at 7:45 pm. But, the sign at the parking says from Sun...

This overview is a bit harder to find from the road but if you drive slowly you will definitely find it. Once we got there, we were expecting a small overview but noticed there was a half mile long trail you could walk and see the spectacular views...
