1950s style diner serving American food favorites from burgers to breakfast. Like most of the places in New Orleans, they have a virtual gaming area for gambling if you’re into that kind of thing. A sign advertised that on Wednesdays you get free fries and drink with the purchase of a burger for a great discount. I ordered the banana fosters French toast and it was delicious, but a little too much on the sweet side. Just be sure to ask for real butter and not the liquid butter they place on the table in a squirt dispenser. Also ordered the country fried steak to be served 2 banquet frozen meal style patties covered in gravy. The food could definitely use some seasoning and flavor. Service was great, yet food takes a while to prepare due to staffing issues.

I ordered a Bacon Egg and cheese sandwich on Texas Toast, to go, and here is a picture of what they gave me, which I did not see until I got back home. It is basically a cheese omelet , with a side of bacon, and a side of Toast. Not a sandwich . It was nothing like the way they usually service it. Very lazy, and they did not even cut it in half or service it like a sandwich should be made, like they have always done in the past. The employees never smile, not are they ever friendly. They also overcharged me, I believe. I was charged around $7.50, and the online price shows $6.29. Even after 10 percent sales tax, that does not add up to $7.50.

What a great little diner! Delicious food (especially that hamburger poboy)! Bottled liquid butter is a new thing for me. Is it real butter? Will definelty be coming back. Update: I was watching the first season of 'True Detective' and they filmed in this diner! Also meant to note in initial review that I noticed on the wall near the bathroom a framed collage indicating that a Disney movie called 'Stuck in the Suburbs' was filmed here. Would be cool to see collages or something noting other films/shows Dot's Diner was involved with!

Some of the best diner food I've found in town, this one came highly recommended. I'm assuming I caught them on an off day given the rest of these reviews, but the service was exceptionally bad, so much so that I feel I need to leave this review in case its more than just an outlier. We had our order taken promptly and our waitress was very friendly, but she disappeared and we sat for about an hour with no food and empty coffees. When the food did get to the table it was delicious! But when it came time to pay the check I stood at the counter for 15 minutes being ignored by the staff, sat back down because they wouldnt even look at me, and then got back up 15 minutes later only to stand at the counter for another 10 minutes before they stopped ignoring me. I dont need to be greeted and treated like a VIP, but it really did feel like my presence was an imposition on the staff and they would rather not have to serve me. The restaurant was fairly empty when I came in, but by the time I left it was filled with impatient customers who got there not long after me and still had not seen any food. When I was paying my bill I noticed that there wasnt anyone in the kitchen, despite the restaurant now being almost half full. The food almost made the 2 hour commitment worth it, but I had places to be and really intended this to be a...

We stayed in the KOA up the street from Dots. We were looking for a breakfast spot. Our neighbor who apparently stays here often recommended Dots. We are a bit picky about our coffee so we usually carry our own. When we walked in and sat down the waitress noticed that we brought our own coffee, her demeanor immediately changed. We could tell a big difference in how she interacted with other customers and how she did not with us. We ordered our food, my wifes plate came with pancakes on the same plate as her other food. She asked the waitress if she could bring her a separate plate for her pancakes. We could tell that this really passed her off. She did not come back for the rest of our meal. We got a guy that was clearing tables to get us a plate. We had to go to a empty table to find syrup. By this time our food had gotten cool. Meantime the waitress spent 10 minutes talking to another table. The food was good but service goes a long way toward whether we will ever come back...we won't. I would compare it to a mediocre...

Food was ok, but the kitchen is extremely dirty and its out in the open for everyone to see. The "cooks" did not wear hair nets, nor gloves as they were touching raw chicken and raw beef then touching my fries, mozzarella sticks, tomatoes, slices of cheese, bread etc. Ugh can ya say CROSS CONTAMINATION and FOOD POISOING!!! Also, the cook was eating, yes eating over a pot of red beans while she stirred them (enough for some crumbs to fall out of her mouth into the pot- GROSS!!) Then to top it off, she was rubbing her nose with her same bare hands that she was touching ALL of my food and everyone else's with. The only thing that was missing from this woman was a cigarette hanging out of her mouth - I joke sarcastically. Gag me! Sad thing is, the owner or manager was right there counting the money in the register and did not bat an eye at any of this. Maybe a visit from the Board of Health would whip them into shape. This was not my first visit to this location, but it...
