El Paso is the best Mexican Restaurant in town and here’s why: The location has plenty parking, it’s in a safe area, and always kept neat and clean. There’s a small patio area outside that has entertainment from time to time, it is covered and very comfortable. Inside the restaurant has many different areas that recently have been updated and decorated so pretty! From the lighting and fixtures to the table tops have all been changed to modern style with a bit of whimsy to embellish each section of the restaurant. They’ve even updated the outside sidewalk/walk way with colorful specks in the concrete with some non-slip stuff incorporated. There’s a bar with multiple big screen TVs all playing various sports and stations around the bar as well as throughout the rest of the restaurant. The seating is ample with, big, comfy seats, booths or places to sit or stand around the bar. There’s a front section and patio type area, a main, more open, larger middle section, the bar area, and finally a smaller area in the back. It has some larger tables that could be used for bigger groups of people as well as booths and tables. As for the food, it is all always delicious, fresh, served hot and consistently tastes the same. From the creamy, rich queso to the sizzling hot fajitas, the carne asada, enchiladas and chimichangas, we have yet to order something that wasn’t great tasting. The portions are generous, served on various types and sizes of plates, platters with the appropriate utensils and always clean. The wait staff is very courteous and there are enough of them to serve and take care of each table of guests. The one and only waitress we always ask for every Friday is Ms. Mary. She is one of a kind. She remembers every person at our table’s meal and drink weekly.. even the extra shredded cheese we ask for. Our drinks are always refilled before we are empty, she’s great about replenishing our chips to go with the awesome, fresh salsa and she regularly brings extra napkins before we ask as well. When we finish our meal, she is quick to offer to-go boxes/bag/cup for whatever we need to bring with us. We never have to wait long to be served, or for Ms. Mary to bring our check or anything else. Excellent service! Out of all the things people look for in a restaurant, food and service, El Paso has the...
Read moreLet me start with this. This is my first time EVER reviewing anything. El Paso...... called asked about a table for two. Was told plenty of room. NO WAIT. Arrive and they have a band playing outside with have the people eating and the other half listing to the band. I approached the front door to be greeted and asked how many. I said two. Then I was told it would be A LONG TIME.... I looked at the tables outside and told the young lady that it was only TWO of us how could it not be possible to not fit us. I understand Covid-19 and the rules along with it. I then asked to speak to a manager. Waited 10 minutes without speaking with anyone. I walked inside and was greeted by another young lady, asked for a table for two. My friend and I were seated IMMEDIATELY! When at my table I asked again to speak to a manager, due to watching couples of two get told IT WILL BE A LONG TIME. The waiter was awesome and the manager finally came. She was however not friendly nor did she want to take time to speak with me. She insisted I spoke with a guy when I repeatedly told her it was a woman. I told her we were told it would be a LONG TIME before we could be seated. She then argued and stated that it was the women's fault, and they didn't speak English. I speak both, as I am bilingual. I let her know and she continued to tell me I was wrong. I just wanted to clear up communication that they have outside and inside available and she let that be known. A MANAGER SHOULD FIX THAT. NOT ARGUE WITH THE CUSTOMER AND LIE. While ordering food from our waiter whom was Great! She sent the woman (who she claims spoke know ENGLISH) To my table to apologize. She apologized in English. Blew me away! Not only that but to argue with me after the apology, to tell me I asked to sit outside, when I simply asked for a table of TWO. What kind of Manager evades the customer and lies about language barriers? This one does. And it is very sad being that I am Hispanic and speak both English and Spanish. She has no business being a MANAGER if she cannot be apologetic about her mistakes as well as her staffs. I liked El Paso in Metairie but will no longer bring business there with that. Shame. Best of luck...
Read moreIt’s been several years since I had a meal at this place. I remember enjoying their bean dip and that the food wasn’t great, but was priced well. I decided to have lunch here today. The restaurant is well air conditioned and the remodel is very nice, but the music was so loud that you would struggle to hear any conversation with anyone sitting at your table. The salsa had a good flavor, but the bean dip is not the same. It wasn’t bad, but didn’t have good flavor like it did in years past when they first opened this location. My meal came out within five minutes of ordering. The meat in my burrito tasted watery and flavorless. The sauce on top also had an off unappetizing flavor. Next I tried the guacamole, which was bland and also tasted old as if it were about to turn. It was also very oxidized(brown). I decided to move onto the Pico de Galló and I had to spit it out because every element of it was mushy. It was spoiled! I finally tried the rice, which was overcooked, yet dried out and also lacking in flavor. Everything that should’ve been hot was barely warm. It’s obvious that they’re using old product from the days before and not even properly reheating it. I guess they’re trying to curb food costs to pay for the remodel. I couldn’t eat anything and didn’t want to get anything else. The food is nasty and their food safety practices are highly suspect. !Guácala! The server was very sweet and offered to replace the dish , to which I declined. I the manager then came out and tried to tell me that he tasted my dish and there was nothing wrong with it and that the tomatoes in the Pico were just “overripe”. He then offered to replace the dish and I still declined. His tone was very passive aggressive. I have a lifetime of restaurant experience and I know what I am talking about, so his attempt to gaslight me only made me more adamant. The music wasn’t loud enough to drown out the sound of the staff talking about the guests in Spanish. The food is terrible and overpriced. The service is also very unprofessional. I wish I could give them negative stars. Don’t waste your time...
