First, let me say working with Jenny during the design process was great. She was quick to respond to emails, phone calls and never seemed too busy to help me pick out the cake. I was grateful for this...I hate to leave bad reviews but I have to be honest.
Unfortunately, I wasted nearly 400.00 on a cake that I thought would not only be beautiful...but taste good. Jenny(the owner) was not in town when the cake was made so I do not know if this would have happened had she been there. The cake tasted absolutely horrible! It was very dry and tasted nothing like the flavors we chose.
Not to mention, when we went in at 10am to pay off the cake balance...we were told the cake hadn't been made just yet(I asked to see it). We returned at 6:45 to pick it up...it had not been refrigerated at all and the icing was so soft....it seemed as if it was melting. Touching it even gently would cause damage. It was not packaged AT ALL. A 3 tiered cake sat inside a little cardboard tray with nothing around it to hold it. The tray wasn't deep enough to at least cover the bottom tier. It was terrible how much money we spent on the cake and how it was not packaged.
As soon as we drove off, the fondant bow fell off the cake and damaged the remaining tiers during its fall. Had the cake been refrigerated, the bow wouldn't have fallen off of the melting icing nor would the cake have been damaged. It looked terrible! I spoke with the owner as soon as we arrived at the venue and saw the cake after the bow falling, she blamed us for not bringing it back for fixing. I explained we heard the bow fall but figured it was easy to put back on(not knowing it damaged the entire cake while doing so) and the party has started and the cake needed to be there. I also told her the cake should've been refrigerated so the bow and icing wouldn't have been so soft and melted. I also asked if she could send someone to fix it as there was no time to return to her shop. She said she could not send someone 4 miles away and didn't offer to do anything else. Instead she blamed us, not her lack of preparation and craftsmanship. I sent her photos immediately after hanging up and after the party, I sent another email explaining how unhappy I was with the packaging and damage....explained how horribly dry the cake tasted...and I got no response.
I cannot recommend this company as I have purchased and drove with over 20 couture cakes and have never had such poor packaging and damage as most cakes are refrigerated and somewhat hard when picked up to allow for travel and preserving. Do not waste your money. I got over the damage and lack of packaging but the way it tasted....what a waste of money. Extremely overpriced for what you...

The most important thing you need to know is — I’m not a huge sweets fan (one bite and I’m good)… I ate all of the samples myself and I may have snarled at my fiancé when he got close to them after his one bite of each. All of the other bakery samples I tried were fine but didn’t come close. Easiest decision I made for the entire wedding was choosing The Sweet Life Bakery.
We wanted a light, fruit flavored cake for our wedding — lemon raspberry in some format with Swiss meringue buttercream (SMB) was our hope. You’d think that wouldn’t be a huge ask these days. However, The Sweet Life Bakery was the only bakery that really had the variety of fruit options we wanted (that wasn’t white cake with a fruit jam) AND prepared tasting samples for us to try without any pushback or a crazy high up charge (very reasonable). Cake samples included blueberry, lemon, vanilla and almond. SMB samples included lemon, raspberry, vanilla and blueberry.
They make beautiful cake designs but I was on tight budget for a 90 person wedding and wanted to have a surprise groom’s cake, so I went with a plain white wedding cake. It was still gorgeous! The groom’s cake of our Yorkie was hysterically perfect! I emphasized that she has big ears and they nailed it all! The fondant on the groom’s cake was the perfect thickness and not too sweet so it was just as delicious as the wedding cake.

Read moreI called about two weeks early for a cake to be made for a birthday party on April 10th. I was told a simple paintball (paint splatter) cake could be made by then. And that she would send over an email with photos for reference and with all the information to approve. I waited a few days for the email but never received it. Called the bakery again requesting the email I had been waiting for and talked to someone else. Was told the lady who I had previously talked to (which I believe was the owner) was very busy but would “probably” be emailing me within the next few days. Still never received an email until I finally get a call back today on April 5th, less than a week before the party. I was unable to answer but listened to the voicemail I was left which stated that the cake could no longer be made because she is too booked up… but maybe if I wanted some cake pops or cupcakes, maybe she could do that. HA. What a joke. Luckily, I was able to find another bakery in the area that could get it done…with ease considering it’s probably the easiest cake to make known to man. Otherwise, I would’ve been showing up to my boyfriend’s party cake-less looking like a fool. Thanks, Sweet Life Bakery. You really know how to run a business. Get your...
