All around the Nola area you can find New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Co. locations, and with good reason. This low frills fast dining establishment is capable of putting a very solid product in front of you fairly quickly at a good cost. Did I mention there’s free ice cream?!
The menu all looked so appealing but Chas had been here before so he made a few suggestions. We started off with some mozzarella sticks, I ordered the One-Handed BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy, and Chas and Val split a Breaded Shrimp Platter.
These mozzarella sticks are huge and delicious. Super fresh from the fryer and clearly hand breaded on premises. Nice Structure to them on the exterior while the cheese inside was gooey and fabulous.
Chas and Val’s sampler had Fried Shrimp, Hush Puppies, Cole Slaw, and the standard fries that are served here which come covered in a garlic herb sauce. The shrimp you could also tell was freshly breaded on site and was seasoned differently than the mozzarella sticks. They were delicious. The hush puppies had a nice flavor to them as did the slaw. These fries are really great. Very heavy garlic flavor and just so enjoyable.
I got the One-Handed Shrimp Po-boy by Chas’ suggestion, and it did not disappoint. I also had a side of those delicious fries, but this sandwich was unlike others I have had in the area. Firstly, it is BBQ shrimp in a po-boy which is not typical at all. Secondly, it was a chunk of French bread loaf that was hollowed out and stuffed with the BBQ shrimp as opposed to it being sliced and served like a hoagie. This sandwich was very good. Crusty, flaky bread stuffed with this New Orleans staple dish (which has nothing to do with BBQ by the way) was a homerun.
We collected our free ice cream and hit the road after that! The platter and sandwich both around $13 and a $5 app and this was a super enjoyable lunch.

Read moreWe visited the location on Veterans Blvd in Metairie, LA during a playdate at City Putt in City Park and decided on burgers from a place that had done us justice in the past. Unfortunately this time failed to deliver as we'd ordered their "specialty burgers" but didn't specify "fully dressed". I could've sworn that when I'd dined at "this chain,", not necessarily this location before, that they would automatically dress our burgers with lettuce & tomatoes at the very least, but instead we just got meat and cheese on buns with "maybe" a lil mayo as I'm not even sure if that now that I think back.😒Although they were still delicious, but not as good as they could've been with "all the veggie toppings" as stated above including mustard ketchup, pickles & onions. So with this said I have to give it a lower rating because of "my" expectation. Everyone enjoyed their food, it was quality meals but the service was lacking as we went thru the drive thru. Funny thing is without even knowing my friend and I were discussing how down here in Louisiana you have to specify "fully dressed" if you want it fully dressed. As being a native fromTexas myself and her being a native from New York, we were astonished to find that when we got back to the park to begin eating our food, everything was included except the additional toppings that normally come on a "regular burger" and these were supposed to be "specialty burgers" that should've had the same things as a regular burger plus whatever extra things that make them special. Food...
Read moreWe came in with a party of 11 and simply asked to slide two tables together to accommodate our group. We were told by a manager that they "can't do that" because they have new floors. Probably not the managers fault because I'm sure the owner told him to say that. But I do have a message for the owner: If you own a restaurant and put in floors that you can't slide tables across, you simply bought the wrong floors. How do you sweep under them? How do you mop under them? Not to mention literally every time someone stands up or sits down, they're sliding the chair across the floor. It's just such a silly, nonsensical "policy."
And after all that, a person in our party who wasn't privy to the table-sliding rules slid the tables together anyway. Oops. Wanna know the worst part? The food was great but that was lost in the bad taste left in our mouths by the table-sliding rule.
In contrast, we went to Felipe's on Carrolton the next day and when the manager found out we had a party of 11 literally the first thing he said was "let me slide some tables together for you!" I sincerely hope someone in upper management or ownership reads this review. Having a "no table sliding" policy is laughably dumb. We used to eat at NOH&SC a lot but will seriously think twice about it in the future. I mean, what if we want to slide some tables together? If you have a large group that wants to sit together, I highly recommend Felipe's on Carrolton! They love sliding tables...
