We have always enjoyed getting take out from here. Today we got takeout and after my wife put down her soft taco from taking a bite she noticed something strange. After looking closer it was a bloody fingerprint. We immediately called management to let them know and their first response was it was from a cherry in the order. Not a cherry tomato but a cherry as in one that goes in a drink. We did not have anything with fruit. I asked for a phone number to text a picture to right away, did so, but they advised they did not get it. She then said that no one in the kitchen was bleeding at any part of the day today. You can see in the picture it’s a perfect finger print with fresh blood. We brought it back in so they could see it in person and they still denied any wrong doing. This time every signal person that worked there had gloves on, including the servers which did not when we picked up the food. It honestly didn’t matter at this point I just find it funny when we got there everyone was wearing gloves. The problem I have is there was no reassurance that it would never happen again or knowledge there was even an issue. This could be very deadly to someone with any type of auto immune problems if there is any type of blood infection or disease the person working there has. Finally they offered a refund but only gave us some of the ticket back, not a total refund. Just make sure you inspect your food before eating anywhere you get food from but expectantly here. I’m sure this was an honest, careless mistake but it was handled very poorly. Pictures is the taco and a close up. We also put Salsa on another tortilla to see if it would be the same but you can see it wasn’t. It is clearly a...
Read moreWe've been here quite a few times and the food is good. But we won't be going back due to the service. Tonight we ordered drinks and I asked for a Dos Equis lager on draft, the lady came back and said they didn't have it, so I asked if they had it in a bottle and she said yes. When she came back, it was with an open beer and she said they didn't have Dos Equis in a bottle, but they had this, I told her nevermind and that I would just get a water. We ordered our food, it came out quick, everything was correct. While we were eating, the table next to us ordered a dos Equis lager on draft and their waitress brought them one. The food was good, but we finished it and sat there for 25 minutes before I had to find another waitress to close out our bill and get to go boxes. When our waitress dropped the bill, she stacked the dirty plates directly on top of some of the food we were planning to take home. On the bill, the ink was faded, but there were dollar amounts on the side that were a little more visible. $64 didn't sound right, but I just wanted out at this point. Got home, added up what we ordered and it didn't match up... Because I was charged for the beer I never received. I worked in restaurants as a busser, server, dishwasher and manager for several years. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the food. The level of service we received here, was terrible and ruined the experience of going out to eat. Very...
Read moreAfter a week at the beach, on our way home to Texas from Biloxi I started looking for a Mexican restaurant along Interstate 12. I came across El Rancho online and thought we'd give it a try. For appetizers we had freshly made guacamole and a bowl of white queso which were very tasty.
I had combination fajitas and the marinade on the meat was flavorful without being too salty. I also liked the abundance of onions, peppers and some grilled tomatoes.
My husband had huevos rancheros and a chile relleno, both of which he enjoyed. My teen had fish tacos and said they had great flavor and we're perfect with the fresh pico. My 7 year old had a kids taco salad and ate nearly every bite.
The service was excellent - our waiter was very attentive. He didn't speak a ton of English but did a good job and was friendly.
El Rancho will be a stop on road trips between Texas and Mississippi...
