Ah, Waffle House—an American icon and a beacon of hope for road-weary travelers craving comfort food and nostalgia. But let me tell you about my experience at the Covington, Louisiana location, where my expectations crashed harder than a hangover after a night on Bourbon Street.
First off, let’s talk about the ambiance. The tables were sticky and itchy (yes, you read that right—itchy tables, a new low in dining discomfort). As I slid into my seat, I felt like I was sitting in the aftermath of a syrup apocalypse. I could almost hear the bacteria cheering, “Another victim has arrived!”
Then, our waitress shuffled over. Bless her heart, she was missing more teeth than a jack-o'-lantern and had the energy of someone who just came off a three-day bender. She had the charm of a surly cat and the customer service skills of a DMV employee on their last nerve. When she took our order, I half-expected her to ask for a tip in loose change or crack.
I was hoping for a taste of those golden childhood memories, but instead, I got a harsh reality check. The waffles were as lifeless as my will to finish them, the eggs were runny enough to drip the whites and all off of my plate like a slobbery snot thatbwas hanging from the 3 years olds nose that was jumping from table to table, and the hash browns—dear Lord, the hash browns—were an oily, unrecognizable mess with a slice of cheese food slapped on top. The only thing that i hoped wouldn't disappoint was the coffee, but no that couldn't be the case. It was like pouring hot hair down my throat, at least it was able to distract me from the horror on my plate.
So, there I was, choking down subpar food while trying to avoid making eye contact with the waitress, who glared at us like we were the ones ruining her day. At this point, I was torn between laughing and crying, wondering why I didn’t just hit up a drive-thru or eat gas station sushi instead.
If you’re ever feeling nostalgic for those childhood road trips, steer clear of the Waffle House. The food is abysmal, the tables are biohazards, and the service… well, let’s just say it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Next time, I’ll take my chances with a vending machine. Because I was about to be on worldstar if she kept this...
Read moreGirl was rude as can be. As soon as I sat down she asked me with an attitude "what you want to eat?!" I was like I'm not sure yet, I just sat down. She left and came back 30 seconds later and asked me again in the same tone. I was like what's the rush there's no one in here. Then I thought she is probably why no one is in here lol. There's no way I could be the first to be treated this way by her. I couldn't pronounce her name but it starts with a K. When I would ask her a question she wouldn't even answer me she would just grunt as if I'm supposed to know what that means, so then I had to ask her is that a yes or no as she walks away...wont go back there again...It's funny because I went there by myself to get away and relax for a little while before going to my business and I'm greeted with an attitude. If this were my business I would fire her asap no question. Btw for the record, I work in the service industry and own my own location. I tipped her anyways because I'm not a jerk. I never leave bad reviews but surely this one was worth me taking my time to do. Get it together waffle house, it only takes one bad apple to ruin...
Read moreHad a great server, was super friendly. Came in around 9am on June 18, 2020. Asia was our server. I came with my mom & little brother. The entire time one of the other more heavy set older white women, there were 2, working behind the counter kept harassing our server, telling her to shut up, even told another customer that she was like the daughter she never wanted, talked about Asia behind her back while she was running around doing her actual job. Extremely unprofessional attitude. Just sitting in the dining area eating with my family it felt uncomfortable to hear the comments & remarks she was making to the rest of the team & to Asia while they have guests. If that’s how it is all the time I will NOT be giving them another chance. First time coming here & I am appalled. No one should ever have to deal with that kind of abuse in a professional work environment. It makes me curious how low Waffle Houses’ expectations are for...
