Wait staff was great, food fairly good, but the manager approach to customer service could use some work. My husband ordered a pasta dish after 2 bites he realized it was to highlight seasoned (salty) and he is hypertensive. He hates sending food back to the kitchen or complaining, because he has seen things some cook staff will do to food before sending it to the table, but he had to this time. Choices given by the manager: I could take the dish home and he can order something else or if they discarded the dish I had to pay half and still had to order another meal for my husband. Why should anyone have to pay half price for a meal that they did not eat? We were more than willing to pay for his replacement meal. So, make sure you like your food and don't need any replacements meals.
Part 2 - Reply to Owner's comments: To be clear your manager did not clarify a full charge when he presented us with the offer to take the meal home. His exact comments, before we ordered something else: "would you just like ro take it home because we are just going to throw it away."....Also to be clear, my husband ate one spoon and said it was too salty at that point he mixed it all up to see if that would reduce the highly seasoned taste, then he tried bit once again...at that point we spoke to the waitress who sent the manager to the table. So, despite what you may have been told...no he DIDN'T eat half of the food....I initially said yes to taking it home after ordering something else...but my husband said no after he realized the he was charging us full price on something that was offered without clarity. When we told him that we didn't want to take it home he was only going to take half off the price of the meal... even though we were no longer taking it.
We do not live in the area and I have eaten at your restaurant less than 5 times without incident...it was my husband's first time... your manager was polite and could have politely, made certain we were aware of your policy and exactly what he was offering...I can assure you, we won't...

Okay went in this evening and wanted a steak, but they serve the steak with Baked Potato. As a diabetic I know a potato is going to make my blood sugar sky rocket. So I asked if I could sub steamed Broccoli (which is on the menu) was told i would have to pay an additional charge. I am all for making a buck, but come on the baked potato or french fries was the only vegetable they would serve me unless i paid extra. And the manager tried to give me some cocky mannee story about why their broccoli couldn't be swapped with out the fee. So I paid for my app and drink and left. I WON'T be back. It is a sad day when steamed broccoli which means broccoli that has been steamed, has to be explained why it can not be swapped out for a baked potato which in the long run if loaded cost more to the restuarant than the broccoli. I've worked in numerous restaurants in the past both in the kitchen and the dining area. If i was asking for something off the menu or even extravagant I would willingly pay extra, but to go to a restaurant and be told that potatoes are the only thing you can get with the meal unless you pay extra, is frustrating beyond belief. So I'm sure someone is going say just don't eat the potato. Okay! How about I don't pay for the potato! Why should I have to pay for something I can not eat and stay healthy. This is not so much about the fact I wanted broccoli, it is about the fact as a consumer it is my responsiblity to make sure what I consume is healthy. Not only for myself, but for those who depend upon me( family and coworkers). So to get off my soap box, this place was not accommodating to my dietary needs as I explained to them, unless I was willing to pay an extra (upgrade) fee. Again I will NOT...
Read moreTo start off with, this is the first time I have ever given anybody a negative review. I have eaten at Galvez Seafood several times in the past & the service & food were good. This time was different. The service staff were very friendly, Courteous, & good. Unfortunately my grilled catfish platter was not. I tried to eat a piece of the fish & it had a fishy taste, unlike catfish normally have. I tried another piece & even tried the thicker end & even the thinner end on other pieces but I just could not eat it because of the taste. It was clear that almost all of my fish was not eaten. I mentioned it to the server who brought another lady over. Unfortunately I’m not sure what her name or position was. I explained the problem with the fish & just asked if I could just have a hamburger patty to replace it. The Lady explained that just how catfish tasted, it is normal for it to have a muddy taste. I did not mention the muddy taste because I’m aware of that but usually can still eat it. I am very experienced fisherman with year of catching & cooking fresh catfish & most other types of Louisiana fish. This fish had a fishy taste. The Lady said that I could order something else but would have to pay for it. Now remember, I didn’t ask for another whole meal, just a hamburger Patty. My whole order wasn’t but about $14. So they lost two customers for a minor amount. I’m a senior citizen & have never been told you can order something else but you have to pay for it, when I can’t eat their food because of the taste. This was also one of the few times in my life that I couldn’t eat something in my plate. I didn’t speak with the person again except to say never mind I don’t want anything. The waitress was apologetic & I told her it was...
