I've had three bad visits in just a couple of weeks. Waitress took my drink order (I sit at the bar directly in front of the waitresses), I waited for over 30 minutes for somebody to take my food order (it never happened) I was on my lunch break and ran out of time, had to leave without eating. Picked up McDonalds in the drive through on the way back to work. Sitting at the bar (again), I ordered a hamburger steak. I asked "does this come with mashed potatoes?" (all hamburger steaks should in my opinion) the waitress replied "yes it does", I replied "then I'll have it with mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day" she says "ok" and puts in my order. 30 minutes later my order comes out and the waitress comes out and tells me "sorry, we are out of mashed potatoes", I say "ok, fine" (I was a little disappointed as I probably would have ordered something else since I couldn't have mashed potatoes with my hamburger steak), and I ate my meal (canned corn and a hamburger steak). As I was finishing, I asked the waitress if she could "take a little off of my bill since the restaurant was out of potatoes" she said "sure". She comes back with my ticket, I look at it and it doesn't appear to have any discount. I asked the waitress "did you take any money off the bill for the lack of potatoes?" she says "yes" I asked "how much" she says "about a dollar something" I ask "may I please look at a menu?" (I wanted to compare the bill to the price on the menu). I compared the price and she had not given me any discount (she had lied). I told her to "please get me the Manager". The Manager came out and I explained the situation, and she said "We are not out of potatoes" (waitress had lied to me three times in about three minutes). I left very disappointed. Sitting at the bar at lunch (again) I ordered a patty melt. 30 minutes later a fully dressed cheeseburger comes out. I told the waitress "I ordered a patty melt". The waitress says "that is a patty melt". I say "no ma'am, that is a cheeseburger, I ordered a patty melt". I say " Its been too long, I don't have time for you to make me another sandwich, I need to get back to work". The Waitress says "the only difference is a patty melt has grilled onions on it, we will put them on it". I say "no ma'am that is not the only difference" she yells "I KNOW WHAT A PATTY MELT IS!" I say "no ma'am you don't, but if you would like to listen for a moment, I would be happy to teach you". She says again "I KNOW WHAT A PATTY MELT IS!" I tell her "please go get your manager", I told the Manager, "I am seeing you way too often, told her the story and left. Joe's Cafe is pretty good food, and about the only good non fast food near my work. I badly want to be able to eat there, but now fear "everybody knows me in there and they may do something malicious to my food". This happened at the Marrero, Barataria store. I wish there was a way upper management could contact me, but there is no way to file a complaint on Joe's website, all I can do is get a phone number for the local restaurant and I've already spoken to the...

Troy,, before you respond with the templated reaponse, how about you do something as the manager? My complaint seems to be recurring throughout these reviews over and over with only a templated response from you. If you did take action, the recurring complaints would certainly not be the case.

Edit: I wanted to elaborate on my experience a few weeks ago. All I was looking to purchase was donuts. Nothing more. I pulled into the drive thru line with probably 3 cars ahead of me to get to the speaker to place my order. With my 5yr old daughter, I waited for roughly 15 minutes to not even move up 1 car. I proceeded to just go inside as I assumed it would be faster. Parked on the backside, walked in with my daughter and seen a disorganized mess. There was 1 person ahead of me that hasn't ordered yet, 2 people in front of them standing by the chairs waiting for their orders. Behind the counter staff was running around the restaurant to and from tables to the back in the kitchen, chef comes in and out of the kitchen multiple times while the drive thru person stands there waiting for the food. After standing there for 5-10 minutes waiting for them to even acknowledge anyone at the counter, a gentleman walks in behind me and asks if I have ordered yet in which I replied "No sir, I have not yet placed an order myself." A staff member(presumably the counter worker) overheard my conversation and yells from behind the register to me "I would like to see you try." Not knowing she was talking to me, when I noticed her looking in my direction I asked "pardon?" She proceed to say that she heard me say that I could do it myself and said she would like to see me try. I said "No ma'am, I said I have not yet placed the order myself." She tried to laugh it off stating she jokes with people all of the time like that. Needless to say after spending an entirety of 15 minutes in the drive thru and an additional 15 minutes inside to witness an absolute disaster of customer service, my daughter and I promptly walked out without placing any orders.

My suggestion is figure out WHY the drive thru is taking so long. Is it hot orders? If so, have those customers park somewhere and have the food delivered to their car so the rest of the customers can place orders and move along.

And the staff was very unprofessional, rude to customers, and completely ignorant to customer's time.

I will not be returning to...

Joes on barartaria is horrible. They waitresses are messy and full of drama and the manager Diane is the rudest woman I've ever met. I've witnessed her lie about a waitress stealing just because she didn't like her and was holding a grudge. The cameras showed she didnt steal and she made her pay for the drink and donuts twice then took it out of her check. So she paid three times for two items. She also makes her waitresses work over time but refuses to pay them for it. She just puts it on the next week's check which is illegal. Also the Joes on causeway is the dirtiest place I've ever eaten at and the health inspector needs to come in and do a walk in inspection. I watched a waitress scrub the floors for the first time in god knows how long and when she's did nothing but muddy muck came up. They were still filthy when she finished. When the owner was told how dirty one of his locations was he said. I know they are all like that and pulled someone to the side and pointed out a wall of trash and muck on the donut frying room. All in all It is a horrible discusting restaurant. I would never eat there again!!! Don't go there unless u want to get sick. The cook Lawrence said he found a roach leg in the eggrolls and just pulled it out and cooked it and a waitress named Rochelle says she finda hair ontop the donuts all the time and just skips over them until she has time to pull them off. Sugar ants roaches and honey...

I recently visited Joe's and was disappointed with my visit. After my visit I submitted my concerns via a review. Within hours I was contacted by the manager expressing her apology and concern for my experience and inviting me to try Joe's again today. My husband and I enjoy going to Joe's and our favorite menu item is their omelets with the grilled biscuit. Divine. Our visit was great. As always, the wait staff is attentive and courteous. When you come here you feel like family. I want to say thank you to Diane the manager, for addressing my concerns and showing the customers of Joe's that you value our patronage. Also a special thanks to our waitress Erica and the cook Brook, who personally came to talk to us and make sure our food was cooked properly and see if we were enjoying it.

Stumbled upon this little gem while heading to another activity. It's a local chain serving home cooked like meals. We were here for brunch, and I have to say it was one of the best breakfast meals I have ever eaten. The grits were creamy and done perfectly, and the fried biscuit was melt in your mouth delicious. 😋 The service was impeccable, and the staff were happy, smiling, and genuine. Can't wait to return.

I had an apple fritter and a couple of sweet rolls. They were awesome. I had a mocha hot coffee which was marginal at best. It seemed like a decent place, but I have to admit... seeing some employees with masks under their chins or with their nose outside the mask, I didn't feel safe. One server sneezed (with mask down), in front of the open donut shelves. I couldn't wait to leave.
